A major bug is currently making waves in Battlefield 6 – and many players actually want it to stay. The glitch creates a dramatic orbital-looking laser beam that shoots down from the sky, turning the gritty realism of the multiplayer shooter into something straight out of a sci-fi game like Helldivers 2. The effect appears when a vehicle is destroyed or a player is killed, sending a glowing red beam crashing to the ground to mark the spot. It has been causing quite a stir on the game’s official subreddit.
In a thread by user u/Xhamy, a 14-second clip shows a sniper perched on a high-rise taking aim at a Black Hawk helicopter. Moments after the shot, the chopper is hit by a missile, crashes, and the dramatic red beam mentioned earlier shoots down from the sky. The video is captioned “For Super Earth” – a clear nod to Helldivers 2.
The bug looks so impressive that many players find it hard to believe it is unintentional. Some fans are even hoping the beam will stay in the game as an Easter egg or hidden feature. The glitch will likely be patched soon, but given the surprisingly positive reaction, it would not be far-fetched for EA to deliberately bring it back in the future. The laser beam bug now joins a growing list of memorable Battlefield moments since the game’s release on October 10 – including a leaf that got stuck to a sniper’s scope and an unbelievable lucky shot.
