Amazon is now running a sale on the Baseus PowerCombo power strip for $32 USD if you're a Prime member or $40 for non-members. The model is notable for its compact size, triple USB ports, and triple AC power ports to charge a variety of devices simultaneously.
Baseus has sent us a sample for our impressions and, much like with existing Baseus chargers, the build quality of the PowerCombo is sturdy and far from cheap. We particularly like the 5 ft cable which gives the PowerCombo more utility than most regular power strips in home environments. Furthermore, each of the three AC power ports are on different sides of the unit which prevents one plug from physically blocking access to the two other plugs.
One interesting feature of the PowerCombo is its blue LED ring which will flash or pulse depending on how much power is running through the unit as follows:
- 0 to 650 W: Solid blue light
- 650 to 1625 W: Breathing blue light
- 1625+ W: Quick flashing light
Since the PowerCombo is rated for a maximum of 1625 W, the quick flashing light also indicates an automatic shut off in order to mitigate any potential damage.
Perhaps the biggest drawback to the PowerCombo relates to its USB ports. While the AC ports themselves can reach a total of 1625 W, the three USB ports share a total output of only 40 W. In fact, the maximum output of one USB-C port is limited to just 20 W. Most USB-C chargers can output up to 30 W, 65 W, or even 100 W in comparison. The Baseus PowerCombo is therefore not the best option for quick charging smartphones and tablets where much higher wattages are required.
