Blackview has unveiled a new smartphone, the BV8200. Although it does not come with a particularly large battery like some other rugged smartphones at 8,800 mAh, it is still larger than those of conventional smartphones and supports 45 W fast charging. The MediaTek Helio G100 is a solid performing SoC, even if not so up to date, as it lacks a 5G modem. Nevertheless, a wide range of LTE bands are supported.
The 370-gram heavy and 16.5-millimeter thick smartphone comes with 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of storage. The former can be further expanded up to 24 GB while the latter can be expanded with a microSD card alongside two SIM cards, which is definitely not common in this range. There is not only the 6.5-inch main screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 and a 120 Hz refresh rate, but also a second screen on the back. This measures 1.3 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 360 x 360, but only a 60 Hz refresh rate. Since the second screen only displays a clock, this is not an issue. Both displays are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H certifications are advertised, meaning that the smartphone is supposed to be impervious against dust, water or temperature extremes. Two flashlights with a brightness of 170 lumens are installed at the top. Lastly, Doke OS 4.0, based on Android 14, is installed as the operating system.
The model will be available for direct import from December 31 for a price of $230.
