Back in 2021, Hazelight Studios took the world by storm with It Takes Two. At first glance, a split-screen co-op game doesn't make much sense, given the genre's dwindling popularity and the industry-wide pivot towards online multiplayer. But, It Takes Two stunned everyone and went on to win the coveted Game of the Year title. The game's success has allowed Hazelight to launch a sequel called Split Fiction, which was also very well received.
In It takes Two, you and your partner can pick between Cody and May, a couple whose marriage is on a steady decline. Unbeknownst to them, their daughter, Rose, is clearly affected by the ongoing conflicts. One thing leads to another, and the couple find themselves shrunk to a minuscule size. Now, they must navigate through a brutal world where everything will kill them.
Cody and May have unique roles to play, and it is impossible to progress through the game without full coordination with your duo. Of course, not everything works out as planned, and you will end up with hilarious fails that can either end up as fond memories or irreparably fracture your friendship. Plus, It Takes Two can get pretty challenging at times, so make sure you pick someone of your own skill level.
It Takes Two has now been discounted by 65% on Steam. While that isn't the most its price has been slashed by, it is well worth the price. There isn't much in the form of replay value, other than playing a character you missed out on once. The best part is, It Takes Two comes with a Friend Pass, meaning you need to buy only one copy to enjoy the game with your buddy.
