Asus expands the RoG Strix gaming laptop lineup with Hero and Scar editions
Al the gaming-related products from Asus are now found under the Republic of Gamers brand. This applies to the gaming laptop lines, as well, and Asus also employs the Strix brand to further delineate the premium performance. Asus announced that it will add three new models to the ROG Strix gaming laptop lineup – one Hero edition and two Scar edition models – that are powered by Intel’s i7-7700HQ CPU. All new models come with 16 GB DDR4-2400 RAM and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe SSD + 1 TB FireCuda SSHD storage combo.

It features a 15.6-inch 1080P 120 Hz display with 25 ms response time and 178-degree viewing angles, which is coupled with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB GPU. The same GPU is featured with the Strix Scar Edition GL703VM-DB74 model.
The Strix Scar models come with 17-inch displays, but these have different specs: the Strix Scar Edition GL703VM-DB74 comes with a 17.3-inch 1080p@120 Hz display with 5 ms response time and wide viewing angles, while the Strix Scar Edition GL503VS-DH7 integrates AMD’s G-SYNC technology with 144 Hz refresh rate and 9 ms response time. The Strix Scar Edition GL503VS-DH74 is also the only model to come with Nvidia’s GTX 1070 8 GB GPU.
