Reviews for the Asus Zephyrus G14 GA401QM
The Zephyrus G14 was the only game in town when it launched early last year, but times have changed. Some aspects of the system still hold up well while others are already starting to age when compared to the new 14-inch Razer Blade 14.

Thanks to Best Buy I'm revisiting the ASUS G14 Laptop with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU after 8 months. It's still one of the best 14" laptops you can buy. Hopefully this review/revisit helps you decide on whether the ASUS G14 is the perfect fit for you this holiday season. Let me know if you have any questions below!

Unfortunately, while this laptop hasn’t changed that much, its competition has. The G14 is no longer the most powerful 14-inch gaming laptop you can buy — and while its battery life in particular may still make it a great buy for some users, it’s no longer the obvious choice for everyone. The Blade 14 offers significantly more powerful chips in a chassis that’s thinner and almost as light. And while the Blade 14 is more expensive, there are also a number of ways to get an RTX 3070 for a lower price than the G14 is asking here. If you’re willing to go for something slightly bigger and miss out on the fancy lights, the Zephyrus G15 will give this exact chassis design (with the same exceptional keyboard, touchpad, audio, and battery life) with much better gaming results for less money. If you still want fancy lights, you can also get a 5900HX and an RTX 3070 (along with a 144Hz display) in the RGB-packed ROG Strix G15 at a lower price than my test unit. Again, the G14 is still excellent. But there’s more excellent stuff in this category now than there was last year.

Summing up this review, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2021 is still a decent 14” gaming laptop—despite its hot flaws. From its compact form-factor, a comfortable keyboard, color-accurate display, and impressive battery endurance, there’s a lot of reason to pick this portable gaming and content creation workstation. The heating issue, as I mentioned earlier, is an inherent drawback of the 14” chassis but you can always dial down the settings for relatively cooler gaming performance. So, if you’re looking for a powerful 14″ gaming laptop, the Zephyrus G14 presents itself as a decent option to consider—although there’s a scarce number of alternatives, to begin with.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2021) is an excellent option for those who want to game and work on their laptop, featuring superb specs, a vibrant Quad HD display and a lightweight design. However, the lack of any webcam may be a major issue for those working from home.

I’ve compared the new ASUS Zephyrus G14 against last year’s model and other gaming laptops to see what sort of improvements are on offer. I’ve also tested it in 13 games at both 1440p and 1080p resolutions, and tested with an external screen to boost performance.

Above all, this display size is used for subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles. For all three types, this size is quite large. The biggest variety of subnotebooks is represented with this size.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
