Asus' new Zenbook A14 is a particularly lightweight 14-inch laptop that weighs less than 1 kilogram. Its case is made entirely out of Ceraluminum and on the inside, the new Snapdragon X1-26-100 gets to work. However, the laptop's display only runs at 60 Hz.

The Asus ZenBook A14 ticks most of the right boxes for users who need a reliable, long-lasting, and highly portable laptop for everyday tasks. For its price of Rs 99,900, it excels in design, offers a good display, delivers solid battery performance, and provides a pleasant typing experience. That said, the lack of biometrics and occasional performance dips under stress are things potential buyers should be aware of. If you need a machine primarily for writing, content consumption, video calls, cloud-based work — and you want it to be super light — the ZenBook A14 is a strong contender. But if your workload involves heavier multitasking or content creation, it might be worth exploring options with more powerful processors like the Snapdragon X Plus or Intel’s Core Ultra series. You can go for the VivoBook S15 Copilot+ PC for a better overall experience.

It's a great laptop, particularly if you're looking for an ultralight, ultralong-running laptop for travel. Its Ceraluminum enclosure is both rigid and lightweight, and the Snapdragon X processor allows it to run around the clock. Plus, its display is the icing on this Copilot Plus PC cake at this price.

The Zenbook A14 has a coherent identity: it's a lightweight, aesthetic machine for the modern professional, effortlessly mobile in both form factor and battery life, but trades some raw power for all that endurance. That being said, the Snapdragon X processor punches well above its weight and competes handily with chips that are, on paper, more powerful. Because of its cohesive identity, how well it balances innovation and value, and the hardware performance, the Zenbook A14 is one of the best laptops I've reviewed in the past year and one I'd strongly recommend as long as its strengths align with your needs. To top it all off, the starting price of $899 is very competitive -- potentially even disruptive -- if Asus succeeds in selling this laptop's brand story in a way that positions it as an alternative to other ultraportable, such as Apple's MacBook Air.

The Asus Zenbook A14 has a laser-like focus on two closely related areas: portability and battery life. Its stamina is awesome, and it’s so light you might have to check your bag to make sure it’s in there before you head out. A decent keyboard makes it enjoyable to work from too. You do need to enter accepting some other areas don’t get as much attention, or are deliberately compromised in favour of battery life and portability though. The screen doesn’t provide ultra-high-res clarity or high refresh rate smoothness. Performance is not great by the standards of other Qualcomm laptops or recent Intel Ultra ones and, as with other PCs in this “made for AI” class, you may encounter some compatibility issues with apps. Nonetheless, the Asus Zenbook A14 represents pure portability bliss for the frequent traveller. That, for many, will make it an absolute winner.

Now then, should you buy this laptop? Honestly, I’m really liking the build of this laptop. It’s superbly lightweight, has nice colors, and also magnificent battery life. Plus, the fans barely run too – even though I am using it in the full fan speed mode. The price for the specs as shown here is actually pretty enticing. At least most apps are running natively on Arm or translated properly to Arm architecture codes. ASUS Zenbook A14 UX3407 review - the lightest laptop I've used 18 The Zenbook A14 UX3407 is a great choice – and the price is also rather enticing. Just we’ll have to fork out an extra 20% of money to get an OLED screen – which I highly recommend to get. Still, I really do suggest you know what you’re getting into before purchasing a Snapdragon laptop.

It’s for someone who is always on the go, a frequent traveller and user of cloud-based apps like Google Docs. The ZenBook A14 is perfect for users who connect wirelessly and don’t want to be weighed down by a bulky laptop. However, it’s not for those who need a machine for heavy photo and video editing or gaming. Day to day, it is remarkably capable—especially considering what it’s working with. This is a legit Windows PC, and in everyday usage, it runs perfectly. That being said, the ZenBook A14 has its limits, but you won’t find another laptop in this price range that is as light, features an OLED display, and offers such impressive battery life.

The Asus Zenbook A14 is a perfect example of a thin and light laptop in 2025. The device comes loaded with a premium design and is so lightweight that you might even forget it is in your backpack. The connectivity ports are decent enough for multiple purposes. The Asus Zenbook A14 also features a crisp display with beautiful and accurate colours. The battery life is one of the strongest suits of this laptop, making it a delight for those who are always on the go. That said, the crucial factor here is whether you can rely on Windows on an ARM laptop or not. The answer is pretty simple, actually. If you are one of those who want a lightweight laptop that is future-proof, provides better thermals, and efficiency, the Asus Zenbook A14 is a solid machine for this purpose. If you also understand the particularities of a Windows on ARM laptop and accept it with open arms (pun intended), then you should definitely give this a try.

The base Snapdragon X variant of the ZenBook A14 is priced at Rs 99,999, while the higher-end Snapdragon X Elite variant is available for Rs. 1.3 lakh. Yes, there is a big difference in overall performance, but most users aren’t that likely to notice it in their day-to-day usage. Instead, I would recommend opting for the base Snapdragon X variant and adding more storage down the line if needed. As for whether the base variant of Snapdragon X is recommendable or not, it’s an excellent choice for those seeking the lightest clamshell laptop possible without compromising on build quality or essential features. Its portability and exceptional battery life make it a perfect companion for frequent travellers and those who need a reliable machine for on-the-go productivity.

Overall, there’s little to not like about ASUS’s Zenbook A14. More importantly, it delivers on the key pillars that are important for most people – battery life, screen quality, portability, durability and performance. Plus it’s all wrapped up in an attractive and scratch-resistant case. ASUS Zenbook A14 with green screen on leather chair Price-wise, for $2500 in Australia, it’s competitive against other premium laptops with similar capabilities, such as the 14in HP OmniBook Ultra and even has the edge in terms of storage space over the new MacBook Air with M4 chip. All up, it’s a very light and capable machine that you can tuck under your arm with the assurance that it will get the job done.

If ASUS’ goal was to make an impressively premium ultra-light laptop, it almost got there with the Zenbook A14. While it outdoes the MacBook Air in weight and value, its slow processor makes it far less capable than Apple’s ultraportable. Perhaps one day, with future revisions and more capable hardware, ASUS could finally deliver a powerful near-two-pound laptop. For now, though, you’re better off waiting for a discount so the A14 can serve as a secondary PC.

The Asus Zenbook A14 offers a compelling package for users prioritizing portability and daily computing tasks. Its lightweight design, solid build quality, and efficient performance should make it suitable for casual use and multitasking. However, the 60Hz non-touch display and limited graphics performance may not meet the needs of professionals requiring higher-end specifications. Additionally, the reliance on Windows on ARM may present certain limitations in software compatibility and performance. Overall, while the Zenbook A14 excels in portability and design, potential buyers should consider their specific performance requirements and the associated price point before making a purchase decision. We are currently testing the Zenbook A14, so stay tuned for our full review.

I came away from my time with the Zenbook A14 rather impressed. Asus' decision to prioritize a lightweight form factor makes a ton of sense, and returning to my MacBook Air suddenly felt like a physical burden by comparison. I can't get enough of the A14's soft and luxurious-feeling Ceraluminum chassis material, which elevates the entire package in my eyes. The PC is both attractive and slim, yet filled with a decent selection of ports overall. The base Snapdragon X chipset might not have the raw praccessing grunt of its Plus or Elite counterparts, but it's more than powerful enough for most everyday workflows. More importantly, it's an efficiency champ - battery life is excellent, and there's very little fan noise to speak of.

So let me be clear. The Asus Zenbook A14 is on the right track — this is a great all-rounder laptop in day-to-day casual use. The size, weight and aesthetics impressed me all month long, that OLED display is seriously a treat for the eyes and the battery life is huge. But to beat the MacBook Air, you need to become the MacBook Air, and this misses that key element of all-round good performance to really hit Apple where it hurts. And to ask for $1,099 for it is a tricky purchase to warrant. Maybe with the Snapdragon X Elite version, Asus can take the Air’s crown. But this first shot falls a little short.

The A14 starts at $1,299 in Canada, which is an attractive price for what’s on offer. That price puts the A14 on par with the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air and well under the M3 version. It’s also in line with or slightly under many of the other Snapdragon-equipped Windows laptops available in Canada. Ultimately what it comes to is what trade-offs you’re willing to make. I found the Zenbook A14 fit perfectly into my work style, offering great performance and battery life, and I didn’t mind the lower-res display. But some might rather have more premium features like high-res, 120Hz screens. Those options are out there, but they cost a little more.

For some, the new Zenbook A14 is going to be lightweight in the negative sense: a laptop without the CPU and GPU performance they need to get more demanding tasks done at speed. For a lot of business users, though, the hardware will be fast enough for daily productivity, and the good ergonomics, low weight, and lengthy battery life will enable them to work effectively from just about anywhere. Speaking for ITPro, we found it a pleasure to use; quiet, light, comfortable, and snappy with an excellent screen. For traveling workers and everyday commuters, it's a great device.

All told, the Asus Zenbook A14 ticks plenty of boxes as a lightweight, on-the-go machine. Not only does it look and feel great, it weighs barely anything, it’s built beautifully and both the display quality and battery life are superb. There are some weaknesses. I would not want to use this machine for anything remotely graphics intense, certainly not gaming. The audio output is weak, too, and the webcam performance just odd. Plus, the price feels just a little too high, given the performance constraints. However, if you’re after a lean and light laptop with battery life that runs and runs, the Asus Zenbook A14 fits the bill perfectly.

Thanks to Asus for partnering #ad with me to review the ZenBook A14, an ultra-light, durable laptop with exceptional performance, lasting battery life, and a stunning OLED display. Perfect for multitasking, creators, and professionals on the go!

The Asus Zenbook Duo (2025) is a seriously clever and versatile Windows laptop that comes with some sublime OLED displays as well as a fair amount of power, in spite of its slender chassis limiting some oomph. It’s also well-built and looks fantastic, while offering decent endurance considering its two displays. This is a worthwhile upgrade from its predecessor with a lot more power and better battery life, while retaining the same ingenious design that’s unmatched by the competition.

The allure of the thin and light laptop is that you can take it anywhere, and do anything. You know you’re going to pay a slight price in terms of processing power if you leave the gaming PC or MacBook Pro at home, but the tradeoff is usually worth it. The ASUS Zenbook A14 is so close to being a MacBook Air that it’s even possible to see the resemblance between the names A14 and Air, and most of the time it puts on an impressive showing, but there’s one thing that lets it down.

The Asus Zenbook A14 is a lightweight marvel of a laptop that packs in fantastic endurance, a decent port selection and a solid OLED display. Performance is a little off against key rivals such as the MacBook Air M3 though, perhaps owing to its slimmer form factor. With this in mind, the Zenbook A14 is a capable Windows laptop that offers a compelling lightweight choice against the likes of Dell Inspiron Plus 14 7441 (2024) and a potential alternative to folks after a MacBook Air. For more options though, check out our list of the best ultrabooks we’ve tested.

Super lightweight Windows laptops aren’t exactly a new phenomenon, but the Asus Zenbook A14 is still worth getting excited about. Its powerful yet efficient Snapdragon internals really do deliver absurdly long stints between charges. Asus also hasn’t skimped on connectivity, and made sure the keyboard wasn’t compromised by the slim dimensions. The OLED display doesn’t have a class-leading refresh rate, but is otherwise colourful and easy on the eyes. This is also a go-anywhere machine for web browsing and office work, rather than video editing and gaming; rivals with greater performance (and none of the limitations of ARM architecture) won’t weigh you down significantly more. If you’re sold on Snapdragon, though, the Zenbook A14 is my new pick for portability.

While the Asus Zenbook A14 is an interesting chassis evolution within the Zenbook lineup, with a lightweight design and excellent ergonomics, I find the overall positioning of this series rather questionable, especially in this top-specced and expensive Snapdragon X1 Elite UX3407RA configuration. E expect better value in the mid-specced X1 and X1 Plus variants once available, as those are a better fit for a portable daily-use laptop with a much more affordable price tag.

With its sub-1kg ceraluminum frame, this laptop is impressively portable. Yet you still get enough power for gaming and creative tasks, plus AI smarts and excellent longevity. So the Zenbook A14 should be great for students after a notebook for under £1000. Asus reckons that when streaming video, this Macbook Air killer can last for around 30 hours total. The Asus Zenbook A14 I tested is pre-production so I can't do any benchmarking, or a proper battery test. Stay tuned for a full review! But for now here's a closer look at this super-portable laptop's specs, display tech and other lovely bits.

I knew I had found my favorite computer of CES 2025 early last December, long before I had a chance to see what most other PC makers were cooking up. That was the ZenBook A14, a system that ASUS had joked about calling the ZenBook Air. To be honest, that name would have been fitting: It weighs less than 2.2 pounds (or 1kg), half a pound lighter than Apple's smallest MacBook Air. In almost every respect, the ZenBook A14 outclasses Apple's ultraportable, with specs like a 14-inch OLED screen and up to 32 hours of battery life. The only downside is that it's running Qualcomm's Snapdragon X and X Elite chips.

Super lightweight Windows laptops aren’t exactly a new phenomenon, but on first impressions alone the Asus Zenbook A14 is one worth getting excited about. Its powerful yet efficient Snapdragon internals promise exceptionally long stints between charges, yet should still have enough oomph to tackle tasks more demanding than basic web browsing and document editing. Asus hasn’t skimped on connectivity, made sure the keyboard wasn’t compromised by the slim dimensions, and fitted a colourful OLED display that’s very easy on the eyes. With the top model set to retail at $1500, it’s also keenly priced compared to other high-end Copilot+ PCs. I’ll have to wait for a full review to see whether it outperforms those rivals – and whether it’s a better buy than the MacBook Air.

And that is the early story of the Asus Zenbook A14 — one of the first true realizations of what popping Snapdragon in a Windows device can truly do for the design of a laptop. Up until now, we’ve simply seen x86 shells get the Arm transition. But this is the first proof of concept of how thin and light you can make a system while maintaining performance and power efficiency. Fair warning to Apple. Asus is coming for the Air’s crown.

My experience with the ASUS Zenbook A14 has been very positive. Despite its compact size and light weight, the device has proven its power. I can’t help but think, “Where were you earlier, when I needed a laptop that would hold its charge so well?” This laptop is great for work, study, and entertainment. If you’re still unsure whether to buy it, let me be clear – you don’t just need to buy it, you need to grab it with both hands and feet. It’s a truly successful device, and you won’t regret your purchase. The specifications are almost identical: processor, storage capacity, RAM, and so on. The main differences are: Another competitor in this category is the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14Q8X9 (83ED0034PB). The main specs are nearly identical to the tested Zenbook A14.

We are impressed by the Zenbook A14 (UX3407). Its main tricks up in its sleeve are the low weight, the thin profile, and the overall performance that is ideal for home or office work. No matter the compact dimensions, the 12-core X Elite X1E-78-100 maintains 3.42 GHz in short loads and 2.55 GHz in long stress. Not bad at all given the 13.4 – 15.9 mm height of the laptop. The 1200p OLED screen (ATNA40CT06-0 (SDC420D)) is great and even suitable for content creation or color-sensitive work.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users.
Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.
Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.
Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: An integrated graphics adapter that the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core X1P-42-100 SoC features. Compared to the faster 3.8 TFLOPS and 4.6 TFLOPS X1-85 iGPUs, this one does not just run at lower clock speeds but also has fewer unified shaders at its disposal, with 768 being the most likely number. The underlying architecture is reportedly not much different from what was used in the Adreno 730. As for its gaming performance, it's only just sufficient for pre-2020 games at resolutions such as HD 720p on low graphics settings.
Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: An integrated graphics adapter that four Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors feature, as of Sep 2024. It has 1,536 unified shaders at its disposal that are said to run at up to 1,250 MHz. The underlying architecture is reportedly in many respects the same as what was used in the Adreno 730. While thankfully faster than the aging Intel Iris Xe (96 EUs), the Adreno fails to match the Radeon 780M meaning Baldur's Gate 3, a triple-A title released in 2023, is barely playable at 1080p on low with 23 fps on average. Triple-A games of 2024 fare even worse, in no small part due to Qualcomm's subpar graphics drivers.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X:
SD X1-26-100: An affordable ARM architecture processor (SoC) for use in Windows laptops. The 8-core Snapdragon X chip features 8 Oryon CPU cores running at up to 2.98 GHz, along with the 1.7 TFLOPS X1-45 Adreno iGPU and the 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU. The super-fast LPDDR5x-8448 memory controller known to us from other Snapdragon X chips, USB 4.0 support, TB 4 support and PCIe 4 support are all onboard as well.
SD X Elite X1E-78-100: A pretty fast ARM architecture processor (SoC) for use in Windows laptops. The X1E-78-100 is the least powerful member of the Snapdragon X Elite processor series, as of May 2024; as such, it has 12 Oryon CPU cores running at no more than 3.4 GHz and the 3.8 TFLOPS Adreno X1-85 GPU. The 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU, an impressively fast LPDDR5x-8448 memory controller, USB 4.0 support, TB 4 support and PCIe 4 support are included as well.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
