Reviews for the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 GA605WV
Asus now also offers its ROG Zephyrus G16 gaming/multimedia hybrids with the new Zen 5 processors from AMD. We have tested the version with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the dedicated GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop. It continues to feature the same wonderful 240-Hz OLED screen—as well as an annoying third fan.

The AMD-based ROG Zephyrus G16 is a pricey gaming system for hard-core players or media professionals, but it checks most boxes. Our configuration delivers fast processing, steady gaming performance, long battery life, a dazzling display, and a luxury build. The RTX 4070 GPU and AMD processor may be the sweet spot for power, battery life, and price, depending on your needs, but the gaming frame rates do disappoint for the price. Not all games are as demanding as our test titles, nor do you need to run them all at the highest settings, but you should expect to be able to run games at or near peak visual fidelity when paying this much for a laptop, and the G16 can't quite get you there.

Comparing the Zephyrus G16 to similarly specced laptops would be an injustice since the G16 is designed for a different purpose. It’s not too thick and heavy but instead promotes portability. The laptop comes with plenty of power and has selective hardware perfect for most creators. While gamers definitely have other better options on the market, that also cost a lot cheaper, the G16 is a solid recommendation for content creators looking for a Windows alternative to the MacBook Pro. As for AMD vs Intel, the AMD variant is better if you want a creator’s laptop with good graphical prowess.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 thin and light gaming laptop is back, this time with the new AMD Zen 5 processor platform inside. Performance and efficiency are what we expected the new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with Radeon 890M to bring to the table, and it doesn’t disappoint. The design is the same as the Intel version with a premium aluminum chassis, and it has a 2.5K OLED 240Hz display, WiFi 7, single zone RGB keyboard and your choice of an NVIDIA RTX 4060 or 4070 GPU.

This Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 GA605W series is an excellent portable performance laptop. The premium design, excellent inputs and OLED display and audio, and the capable hardware that allows plenty of performance in anything you might throw at it are among the strong points of this series. But it's not without some quirky particularities, and is also quite expensive, especially in this version with the RTX 4060 and 32 GB of RAM.

The latest version of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 is the AMD NPU refresh, added to give gamers more options. Otherwise, it's mostly standard and doesn't introduce much else. However, if you're interested in how well an AI processor will run and you want a more portable gaming laptop, then this might be a good investment.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
