So that's everything there is to know about the latest ROG gaming smartphone. Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro is one of the best gaming-focused smartphones so far in 2022, and if you're a die-hard gamer, it's the most capable and strongly recommended gaming-centric phone available. I believe the technology in this phone is future-proof for at least the coming five years, thanks to the in-display fingerprint scanner and futuristic design. If you don't want to spend the money on an iPhone or a foldable smartphone, the ROG Phone 5s Pro is the one to get. Overall, despite its high price, I can recommend the Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro, especially if you're a serious mobile gamer. Furthermore, all of the primary elements like design and performance are just so smooth, making it a perfect choice for anyone whos looking for a new phone.

There’s very little difference between the ROG Phone 5 and the 5s variants aside from the slight bump in processing power as we found in our review of the phone in the Philippines, so who exactly is the ROG Phone 5s Pro for? Well if you’re looking for the most overpowered phone that you can buy for gaming or are upgrading from a 2-year old flagship, then this phone is for you. Still, you’ll have to have deep pockets to enjoy this overpowered monster, though if you do pull the trigger on the ROG Phone 5s Pro, you can expect it’ll be future-proofed enough to last you three years, maybe more.

Like its predecessor, the Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro is a highly capable gaming phone with top specifications, an impressively rapid display, and useful additional hardware controls for dedicated gamers. Little details like a bundled cooling fan with extra hardware buttons help set it apart from its rivals, while an absolutely gigantic battery provides impressive stamina. However, the price feels a little excessive when the Nubia Redmagic 6S Pro provides a very similar package for not much more than half the money.

It’s weird that ASUS released the ROG Phone 5s Pro just 8 months after it released the ROG Phone 5 Pro. And the difference is not that significant. Just a higher-clocked chipset and bigger RAM. If you own the ROG Phone 5 Pro, I don’t think you’ll notice the difference in performance. If they offer the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate at a lower price, I think I might get that one instead. Those coming from the ROG Phone 3 or buying a gaming smartphone for the first time will probably benefit from this option. All in all, the ROG Phone 5s Pro is a great gaming phone for 2021. It’s a weird release, but great nonetheless.

From which, you can take the gaming session to the next level without any interruptions from hardware or software issues. Overall, you’ll get everything you need in a gaming-centric smartphone and meet the needs of all gamers. Anyway, you can choose which one you think this device will satisfy your desire to play. But on the other hand, if you’re looking for something affordable, you can also check the ZTE nubia Red Magic 6s Pro phones that add value for money.

Everything else from the ROG Phone 5 review still applies to this ROG Phone 5s series, by the way. All the accessory compatibility and its features, they’re all still the same. Here’s a quick refresher for you. Because of how few changes (only one, let’s be honest) there are between the ROG Phone 5 and the ROG Phone 5s series of smartphones – to the point that even the prices are the same – I’ll give the ROG Phone 5s Pro the same award.

All of this being said; honestly, we would probably go for the older device, given a direct choice between the vanilla ROG Phone 5 and the new ROG Phone 5s. However, we understand the justification for the switch to the Snapdragon 888+ and all things considered, we believe few could have pulled it off better than Asus.

Since we've already reviewed the ROG Phone 5 and its Ultimate Edition and there aren't many changes here, we have a good idea what this new phone is about. It's most definitely worthy of our recommendation. The 5s Pro, even with its hefty price, succeeds its predecessors at the top spot among gaming phones. It's a premium offering, sure, but it's compatible with the best ecosystem of gaming accessories, and the software is probably the most polished one in town, too. That's as much as we can say before our full review is ready.

Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro is a high-end smartphone equipped with overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus processors, providing players with more powerful performance. ROG Phone 5s Pro is available in Phantom Black. The outer box packaging is similar to the previous generation, the same as the hexagonal cylinder packaging. Package contents include mobile phone, mobile phone case, cooling fan, 65W charger, Type-C charging cable, stickers, card ejection pin and manual. ROG Phone 5s Pro's screen specifications are not much different from the previous generation. They all use a 6.78-inch E4 AMOLED large screen that supports a maximum screen update rate of 144Hz. Users can manually adjust the 60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz or automatic screen update rate in the settings. The screen's different update is that it supports a 360Hz native touch sampling rate, plus a touch response rate as low as 1ms. In games that support the above specifications, users can get a better operating experience, making finger operations and mobile phone response faster. The color rendering also supports 111% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, screen color quasi-Delta E<1, and supports HDR 10+ display format, and the SGS Eye Care certification can reduce blue light by 6.5%.
The small screen at the back of the fuselage uses the same color screen as the previous generation ROG Phone 5 Pro, and provides six preset animations, including X mode (performance mode), game screen animation, charging, incoming calls, connecting accessories, and the screen is always on. ROG Phone 5s Pro is Asus first model with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+, with 18GB of LPDDR5 memory, and the performance is one of the best choices among the currently listed models. ROG Phone 5s Pro uses a large 6,000mAh battery. Although the body weighs 238 grams due to the large battery, the advantage is that the endurance performance is very good. In order to keep the mobile phone in high-performance operation, the heat dissipation structure is redesigned. The heat source of the centrally configured processor is covered by the enlarged graphite heat insulation sheet, the redesigned liquid temperature equalizing plate, and the separate dual battery design. And the aerodynamic fan 5 is attached with the package. As a conclusion, the biggest difference between the new ROG Phone 5s Pro and the previous generation is that the processor is upgraded to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor, the touch sampling rate is increased to 360Hz, the AirTrigger 5 ultrasonic touch keys on the fuselage support more gesture operations, and the built-in phantom screen is now a color version, and it may be better for players to experience the details of the game with these upgrades.
Qualcomm Adreno 660: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 35% faster than the Adreno 650 in the Snapdragon 865 SoC and offers a 20% better power efficiency.For Android it should be one of the fastest graphics cards in 2021.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

SD 888+ 5G: High-end SoC for smartphones that was introduced in mid 2021 and manufactured in 5 nm at Samsung. Integrates one “Prime Core” based on a ARM Cortex-X1 architecture clocked at up to 3 GHz. Three more performance cores are based on the A78 but clock up to 2.42 GHz. Furthermore, four energy saving cores are integrated that are based on the ARM Cortex-A55 architecture and clock at up to 1.8 GHz. In addition to the processor cores, the SoC integrates a WiFi 6e modem, a Hexagon 780 DSP (up to 26 TOPS of AI performance) and a Spectra 580 ISP.
