Reviews for the Asus Zephyrus S GX531GM
Asus wraps the technology of the Zephyrus S in a thin and compact case. The hardware is able to render every current game smoothly on the matte 144-Hz IPS display. The possibilities to upgrade the device are very limited.

There's no denying the Zephyrus S is supremely powerful - that's its main selling point and it comes in at a cheaper price point than both the XPS 15 and the MacBook Pro too. For the price, it's a solid choice if you're willing to deal with a few drawbacks.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus S one hell of a sleek thin-and-light gaming notebook. It has a functional but beautiful design, hardware that can please both gamers and creatives, and portability that all desktop gaming PCs secretly envy. You do have to get past the keyboard & trackpad setup and somewhat lacking I/O, but once you do, you’re definitely in for a lot.

Gaming notebooks aren’t usually considered to be the slimmest offerings around the block by virtue of their design that requires beefy graphics and the immense amounts of cooling needed to keep them ticking along nicely but the spanking new Asus Republic of Gamers Zephyrus S GX531 bucks that trend as it is not only a throughbred gaming laptop that can take on the best of them in the proverbial ring but it’s also, at this point in time, one of the thinnest gaming rigs on the planet.

Well, unfortunately, pricing for this notebook has not yet been divulged to us by the company just yet but it should be available by October and will come bundled with an Asus ROG Impact Mouse.

While there hasn’t been any major updates in the Zephyrus S compared to its predecessors, the smaller (and dare we say, perfect) form factor has definitely renewed our interest in the series. However, there are also a few important questions left unanswered, such as battery life. But if there’s a chance to discover that the Zephyrus S is the perfect mobile gaming machine, then we’d like to take that chance.

The Zephyrus S is an even slimmer 2018 take on an already-sleek machine, pushing the gaming laptop to new levels of lean. It's spendy, though, so you have to be committed to maximum portability to swallow the trade-offs.

The Zephyrus S GX531 is the pinnacle of the Asus ROG laptop line-up. It's not necessarily the best gaming laptop ever – some compromises will have been made, after all, to claim the title of "thinnest" – but it's an excellent balance of features, specs and design aesthetics.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S looks to be better built and smaller than its predecessor in every way, but we’re uncertain about the sacrifices it has made to get here.
