Model: Let me start with a question: Can you easily define your requirements for a new laptop? Are you a gamer or are you someone looking for good CPU performance? Because your answers will change your approach to MSI’s GF62.
First of all, the MSI GF62 8RE-041NL is a model from 2018. Therefore, hardware is a bit old compared to current technology. It has an i7 8750H processor and a GTX 1060 GPU. This is exactly why I started with a question. Because, with the GTX 1060 you can still play games, but not in very high settings. It will become the bottleneck in the days to come. Whereas with the 8750H processor, I think you can continue using it for another good 3-4 years. It has a USB 3.1 Gen. 2 onboard, but not a Thunderbolt 3. I am saying this because, maybe in years to come, there could be possibilities to connect an external GPU over USB 3.1. I am of course not sure if the bandwidth would be enough for this or not, but this is what it is right now.
I am pretty sure you can continue playing games like LoL, CS:Go, Dota 2 and all other similar games for years to come with this laptop.
Your choice of this laptop depends on your budget. New models with latest hardware currently cost more than 2,000 Euros. The GF62 is around 1,500 Euros at the time of writing. It is still not that cheap, but could be a considerable option.
Do I have any criticism? I mean, I cannot say I have too many things to say. It can get heated, just like every other gaming laptops. It has rather quite charging unit, just like any other gaming laptops. Good parts? Well, it is MSI. It has a good keyboard and a good system management software. With 2.2 kg, it can be considered lightweight for a gaming laptop this size. It has good connections which kind a make it future proof. If you already have something in hand and you say going forward you might need a new “multimedia” laptop, keep the GF62 in your list, because lets be honest the GTX 1060 will be considered a low-level GPU in 1-2 years. If you need something now and with being 100 % for gaming, define your budget first and set your priorities. If you focus on quality, you have to pay extra. If you are only interested in performance, there can be other models from Acer, Dell or Asus that can be in your interest.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile: The mobile GTX 1060 is based on the GP106 chip and offer 1280 shaders. Compared to the identically named desktop version it features a slightly lower clock rate. Games in Full HD and maximum details should run fluently on the card.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
