Reviews for the Asus FX553VD-DM249T
Searching for the Exceptional. We are taking the Asus FX553VD into our test regimen and evaluate if the FX553 lives up to Asus' motto "in search of incredible," or whether Asus has to continue to search. Compared to its sibling model which is equipped with a GTX 1060 at almost the same price, can the notebook collect enough positive arguments for a purchase?

Asus has tried to deliver a rather unique machine; with a business form factor but the inclusion of a GeForce GTX 1050 to give it a little gaming grunt. However, for the price we think you’re better off with something like an Alienware with external GPU accelerator, which will deliver a much more portable office machine, with real gaming performance when you get home.

If you’re looking for a machine that is for office use first and foremost, with a dash of gaming on the side, you can do worse than this.

Despite the lower price and the less powerful GTX 1050, our opinion of the notebook remains largely unaffected. The build quality feels somehow subpar or at least it doesn’t match the competition in most regards. The touchpad is also wobbly and unusable in some cases, although we suspect that the issues we had with it are limited to our unit. Still, the reviewed laptop is not a pre-production sample and we got it directly from the retailer, which means that there is bad quality control. In any case, we liked the keyboard quite a lot, which is more important for a gaming-oriented machine.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

68.18%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
