To be clear in this regard, we found the Asus Chromebook Flip to be a very potent device in our use. People who require a laptop for basic work that involves typing or excel sheets or such web-based services will find it to be a bang for their bucks. Sure, the ChromeOS is new, and the keyboard is a bit limited than those on regular laptops, but a day or two’s use should get any working individual to adjust to these changes. Asus Chromebook Flip C214 retails for Rs 23,999 and is worth its money for a specific user class. Of course, as this user base grows each day, it is likely to find success in the Indian market in the days to come.Live TV

Asus Chromebook Flip C214 Review: For Students On A Tight Budget, It Holds Some Value

In my mind, I see two issues, with Chromebooks in general and the C214 in particular. First, there’s the obvious one: ChromeOS. ChromeOS is great if you live on the web, but as a learning platform, I think it falls short. If you want web apps, you have Safari and Chrome, and at the same time, you get a superior app ecosystem to explore, a better display, a better designed, more responsive UI, a powerful speaker, faster storage, and more. Getting a rugged case and keyboard will push the price over the 30k mark, however. You could also spend a smidge over 30k and get the power and flexibility of a real desktop OS like Windows 10 in a laptop powered by a powerful, 10th Gen Intel Core CPU or 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen APU. On a budget, and as a student-only device, there’s certainly an argument to be made for the C214, but I think it’s worth digging a little deeper and spending a little more on either an iPad or a laptop if you’re looking for long-term value.

Given the fact that Chrome OS is particularly light, we don’t see a problem in using slow and low-capacity storage. However, we strongly advise getting the 64GB version. Something that is also interesting, is that the laptop can be found with 8GB of RAM. To be honest, we don’t feel you will ever need that in a laptop with this hardware. But you know… Chrome is Chrome. So, should you invest in this laptop? And in the Chrome OS in general. Well, considering the fact that you don’t pay a premium for the operating system, and that the laptop is intended for students, probably yes. Just keep in mind that you shouldn’t expect a lot from it, and of course, if you care about the looks – it gives a 2015 vibe all the way.

With a price tag of Rs. 23,999, the Asus Chromebook Flip C214 is the perfect computing partner for those looking for an everyday, light workload-oriented notebook. Its combination of touch and type makes it a very good option for students who need to catch up on school and even college work online. There are alternatives available, most notably the HP Chromebook 11a, which is available at Rs 22,900 but has no touchscreen. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet, which brings a detachable keyboard and full HD display the battle at Rs 24,999. The Asus C423 and C523 Chromebooks are also priced in the same vicinity and come with a sleeker design but are less rugged and portable as they have larger displays. All in all, its rugged design, its touchscreen, and the option to revolve 360 degrees put the Asus Chromebook Flip C214 in a special zone of its own for the moment. If you are a student on a tight budget, this is one Chromebook worth flipping for. It is one of the few even if you flip it in the air (not too high, though!).
