Arc Raiders may release early next month, or at least have a release date announcement

Arc Raiders ran its playtest earlier in May and it was widely appreciated by fans. The extraction shooter was praised for its visuals, sounds, as well as new mechanics. The playtest left fans wanting for more and it now looks like they have a date to look forward to, but it is unclear if that will be the release date or an announcement for it.

First noticed on April 19 and shared on the Arc Raiders subreddit, there was a small update for the game on Steam. This update supposedly lasted only for nine minutes and added a new executable file. The file opens to a window with Base64 strings. Upon further investigation, it was found that one of the strings leads to a website that has a countdown that ends on June 6, 11pm. This just happens to be the day of Summer Game Fest which suggests a major Arc Raiders announcement is coming.

It could be that Embark Studios releases the game on June 6, or share a release date during Summer Game Fest, with the latter seeming more likely. It is also possible that June 6 is the date for the next playtest, in which case players will be able to get back in action in about two weeks. Either way, Arc Raiders fans have something to look forward to.

Dataminers have been hard at work trying to uncover as many details about the game as possible. Earlier in May, a datamine shed some light on the upcoming content, including new bosses, a fourth map, additional game modes, skills, and more. At the time, a new map called ‘The Blue Gate’ was uncovered, along with new bosses and enemies.

Seeing how successful the playtest was, the developers decided to extend it by one more day. It ran from April 30 to May 5 and on May 4, the team shared some milestones that players and the game had reached. Since the start, four million rounds of the game were played and seven million Arc enemies were destroyed.
