As a direct consequence of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), the Google Play alternative Aptoide is now ready to take on iOS as well. The closed launch will take place tomorrow, and new users will need an invitation to join. Between 500 and 1,000 daily invites will be issued in the first stage.

Released in late 2009, Aptoide is now targeting smartphones and tablets, smart TVs, as well as VR devices. A version specifically tailored for kids is also available. This online marketplace for mobile apps is now ready to hit iOS in the form of a gaming-focused app store for users located in the European Union. Scheduled to launch tomorrow, it will debut as the first third-party iOS app store for gamers since the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA) was adopted.

Aptoide claims to "liberate iOS in Europe," and this journey will begin on June 6th at 10 a.m. GMT. However, this process will start at a slow pace, with a waiting list of 20,000 signups and between 500 and 1,000 invite codes to be issued on a daily basis. After the closed launch, early adopters will provide feedback that will be monitored to help iron out any issues before Aptoide for iOS opens for all potential users.

The initial game offering will be limited to just seven titles, including the classic trio, which consists of Solitaire, Charades, and Mahjong. According to Aptoide, more than 100 iOS developers have shown their interest in using the platform, and about 30 are already going through the integration process. As mentioned earlier, Aptoide is an online marketplace for mobile apps, but the iOS version will only focus on games for the time being. The company's CEO revealed to The Verge that additional content and services might be added in the future but did not go into any specifics.
