Apple imposes new limits on its online orders due to coronavirus-induced supply issues

Apple has updated its sales pages with a new drop-down menu in its Bag (checkout) page that allows a user to buy a maximum of only 2 given devices at a time. This applies to the iPhones that can be bought through this site, as well as the new iPad Pro.
Apple's mobile-device revenues have been projected to fall this year and next thanks to the ongoing public health situation. The pandemic in question has also reportedly affected this company's supply chains, which may make the production of iPhone 12 units more difficult than usual. Now, it appears that these rumors may have some weight.
The Cupertino giant has added new restrictions on the online purchases conducted via its own website. They allow a user to order only 2 units of any given device. These limits have been found to apply to the 8- to 11-series iPhones listed on these pages.
Similarly, only 2 new iPad Pros (which come in 11- or 12.9-inch variants) can be ordered per Bag. These measures are only normally taken immediately after iPhone launch events on apple.com, in order to curb order-system abuses on the part of resellers.
Therefore, the fact they are in place now is is a fairly solid indication that their maker is experiencing supply issues at present.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
