Reviews for the Apple MacBook Pro 16 2021 M1 Pro
We review the new MacBook Pro 16 with Apple’s latest M1 Pro processor in its most powerful version with 16 GPU cores. The Mini-LED panel once again impresses with great pictures just like on the smaller 14-inch model.

The MacBook Pro 2021 is a wonderful, expensive and hard-to-ignore laptop. After a few years of MacBook Pros with hefty sacrifices, this feels like the most complete Apple product I’ve ever reviewed. From the reintroduction of some vital ports to the stunning Mini LED display and the wide array of powerful internals on offer, this is a fantastic machine for all those who are willing to part with the cash. It isn’t for everyone, though – and that’s absolutely fine. For those who want a laptop for word processing, browsing, Netflix and emailing, this machine is overkill; the MacBook Air M1 is far better choice. It also remains a poor choice for gamers, not because of what’s on offer, but due to MacOS. Simply put, this is the best laptop I have ever used.

The MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021) is one of the best laptops creative professionals can buy, thanks to its brilliant performance, stunning screen and long battery life. However, it is large and heavy, which is why the 14-inch MacBook Pro may be a better buy, unless you want the larger screen and longer battery life.

All told, the performance, display and battery life make the MacBook Pro 16in (2021, M1 Pro) a pretty special laptop. Indeed, there’s no other machine on the market that can match its all-round capabilities. Sure, there are some Windows laptops that have more brute power and many that are better gaming machines. There are many much cheaper laptops that deliver perfectly serviceable levels of power and performance, too. But there are none, however, that manage to deliver the same levels of power and performance of the MacBook Pro 16in combined with the professional display quality – and none come anywhere near on battery life, either. In short, if you’ve always wanted a workhorse laptop that doesn’t short change you when it comes to working on the move, then the MacBook Pro 16in is the laptop for you. It may be expensive, but it is simply phenomenal.

The 2021 MacBook Pro is the pro laptop Mac fans have been waiting five years for. It’s a return to glory for a product that has felt outdated and underpowered for a long time. It has the best speakers, webcam, keyboard, trackpad, display, battery life, and port selection of any laptop I’ve ever tested. That’s a lot to get right in one laptop. Meanwhile, the performance will satisfy those looking for a machine that can keep with their workflows, especially those working in demanding, creative fields.

It’s not a phrase you’ll hear a company like Apple ever utter. It won’t grovel or ask for forgiveness either. Instead, Apple corrects its errors by putting out a product like the 2021 MacBook Pro. Whether it’s the thickness of the chassis, the Touch Bar, or the ports, the MacBook Pro represents a reversal of nearly every major design decision from the previous generation. And yet, the 2021 MacBook Pro manages to be more than just a referendum on the 2016 MacBook Pro. It’s bold in ways that make it exciting, yet familiar in ways that keep it convenient. You might even call it the best of both worlds — which is exactly what you want in a “pro” laptop.

If you need this kind of power (or the expansive 16-in. display), the MacBook Pro is a definite must. This model combines all that made its predecessor great, addresses all the criticisms people had, and underpins everything with a chip that performs like no other. And yes, next year’s model will be better again, but this model is already better than what was once seen as best. While I would like for the Apple logo on the lid to light up, I consider this MacBook Pro to be a triumph at every level, from the years of work on the internal processor to the OS and display. Such compromises as do exist (like that notch), really only serve to show how far Apple has knocked this particular ball out the ball park.

Apple has finally released M1 versions of the 16” MacBook Pro for creatives. The 2021 model is available with M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, and we tested both for this review so you can see the performance differences. The macOS laptop has a striking 16.2” Mini LED XDR display with 120Hz refresh (aka Pro Motion), Magic Keyboard with Fn row (no more touch bar), Thunderbolt 4, MagSafe 3 fast charging, and the return of HDMI and an SD card slot. It’s available with up to 64GB unified memory, up to 8TB storage and your choice of a 16, 24 or 32 core GPU (we test the 16 and 32 core GPUs). A 100 WHr battery, compact charger and long battery life round up the features. We compare these new 16” models’ performance to the outgoing 2019 model as well as competing Windows laptops like the Razer Blade 15, Dell XPS 15, Surface Laptop Studio and desktop replacement gaming laptops.

As you can see from the above, the decision about whether to choose the 16in MacBook Pro or the 14in MacBook Pro isn't about power or capability, because both models can take advantage of the same M1 Pro or M1 Max chips. The choice is between a larger 16in display and longer battery life, or a lighter Mac laptop. The size of the display is less important if most of the work you will be doing on it will be at a desk with an external monitor plugged in, similarly battery life only matters if you are often away from a power source. The real decision is about whether you need the M1 Pro or M1 Max. If you only need the basic M1 Pro offering, with 8-core CPU and 14-core GPU then only the 14in MacBook Pro offers that option. If on the other hand you need the ultimate M1 Max you can get that with either the 14in or 16in MacBook Pro - and choosing the 14in MacBook Pro will save you money. The element that will probably effect your decision most of all is your budget, and basically you can get more for your money if you choose the 14in MacBook Pro.

Apple: Apple Inc. is an American multinational corporation which designs and manufactures consumer electronics and software products. Apple software includes the Mac OS X operating system but nowadays Macbooks are also able to run Windows. Apple has at least sporadically been considered the most valuable company in the world since 2011 and has consistently ranked among the Top 10 companies in the world.
In the laptop sector, Apple's market share was 9.3% in 2014 and 10.3% in 2016. The latter corresponds to the 5th place. In the smartphone segment, Apple achieved 15.3% in the first quarter of 2016, which means a market share loss when compared to the 18.3% in same quarter of the previous year.
Nevertheless, Apple ranked second place behind Samsung in both years.
There are tons of reviews on Apple laptops, smartphones and tablets. The ratings are significantly above-average (as of 2016).
97.56%: This notebook model is regarded by the reviewers to be exceptionally good. There hardly exist laptops, which are rated so good. If this rating can be taken seriously, this is a clear recommendation for purchase.
