Apple has been teasing the release of the AirPower since 2017. However, the company has let numerous subsequent relevant launches go by without mentioning it again. Nevertheless, a credible source now claims that a known supplier to the OEM has started to manufacture these products.

The AirPower is a mat intended to accommodate multiple types of Apple product so that they can all charge wirelessly at once. At least, that is how the product works in theory. Another year has gone by since the OEM originally hinted at its imminent availability in 2017. In fact, the Cupertino giant has failed to deliver on this indication for so long that we concluded that its development may have been finally dropped altogether. Now, however, it seems that it this process is not only alive, but is in fact at the production stage.

This leak comes courtesy of the reliable tipster ChargerLAB. It has recently posted a Tweet claiming that Apple has asked the supplier LuxPrecision to start manufacturing the AirPower charging mat. As LuxPrecision is already associated with the production of USB type C cables and AirPods for the company, this is a convincing enough story. Therefore, those who like Apple enough to own several kinds of its wireless-charging-enabled hardware may be able to get their hands on a particularly useful accessory of the same brand soon.

ChargerLAB gave no indication as to when the AirPower may be launched. However, considering the lengthy delay in its release (despite Apple's promises), it is somewhat likely that it will be available this year. It is also probable that the AirPower will support the Qi standard, as it may be the best candidate that facilitates multi-device charging per single mat. At present, it is speculated that the AirPower could cost as much as US$200 whenever it is finally launched.
