Android Pie-based Color OS 6 coming soon to older Oppo handsets
Far less popular in the Western world than Huawei's EMUI or Xiaomi's MIUI, Oppo's Color OS is a well-done Android custom build and comes with quite a few improvements over the stock version of Google's mobile operating system. Color OS 6 is based on Android 9.0 Pie and, although it has been around — preloaded on new devices like the Oppo F11 and F11 Pro — for a while, it has just been formally introduced to the public during a special event.
According to the official product page, Color OS 6 "follows the idea of borderless design to bring you the most intelligent system experience, featuring a whole new interface, from home page to app icons, font sizes to background colors." The tools that come with Color OS 6 include System Boost, App Boost, and Game Boost, Game Assistant, Game Space, Smart Dual Channel Network and their names should be enough.
In addition to the tools mentioned above, Color OS 6 also comes with a redesigned Smart Assistant, new navigation gestures, an improved notification bar, and more. A few South-East Asian markets will get Riding Mode, which is nothing more than an Auto Mode that silences notifications, sends text messages back to decline calls, and avoids any type of distractions.
Unfortunately, Oppo still has to publish a list with the devices that will receive Color OS 6 and when is this supposed to happen. If you could install all of them — EMUI, MIUI, Color OS — on your handset, which one would you choose and why?
