Anbernic has teased new features about the RG Slide before the handheld’s release. Sporting a sliding design reminiscent of devices like PSP Go, the RG Slide will be more powerful than many recent Anbernic handhelds, including the upcoming RG35XX Pro.

It seems that Anbernic is preparing to unleash two gaming handhelds this month. For context, the company is days away from releasing the RG35XX Pro as an expansion on existing devices like the RG35XX Plus (curr. $64.99 on Amazon). A new video shared today suggests that the more innovative RG Slide may not be far behind.

For the time being, Anbernic is still leaving fans in the dark about many of the RG Slide’s specifications. However, it has offered a few clues in its latest video, which we have embedded below. For example, it has confirmed that the RG Slide can output to an external monitor at 1080p via DisplayPort Alt Mode over its USB Type-C port, just like the RG557 before it.

Moreover, Anbernic emphasises that the device can emulate more complicated systems than the RG35XX Pro or even the RG Cube. Specifically, Anbernic shows games like the God of War II on the PlayStation 2 and Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo on the Nintendo Wii, which would both be too difficult to emulate on a chipset like the Allwinner H700. The same goes for Genshin Impact, which the RG Slide plays natively as an Android APK.

As a result, it is becoming increasingly clear that the RG Slide relies upon the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 already found in the RG557. While not guaranteed at this stage, Anbernic has a habit of re-using the same chipset across multiple devices. The RG Slide’s display is new though, which Anbernic has reiterated will combine a 1080p resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate across a 4.7-inch IPS panel. Presumably, the company will reveal full device specifications late next week after it releases the RG35XX Pro.
