Alleged Apple iPhone 16 mold photos show iPhone 12-like vertical rear camera layout
There have been a couple of leaks about the rear camera bump of the upcoming Apple iPhone 16. If you’re not caught up, the alleged design schematic of the smartphone popped up earlier this month, showing the phone from all different angles. It hinted at a rear vertical camera layout, just like the iPhone 12 (renewed curr. $282 on Amazon).
Then, an alleged photo claiming to show the rear camera chassis of the iPhone 16 surfaced, which aligned with the design schematic leak. It showed a vertical layout instead of the diagonal one that we’ve seen Apple sticking to since iPhone 13 (renewed curr. $419.81 on Amazon). Now, photos of the alleged case maker mold of the smartphone have leaked.
Like the past two, the new photos of the iPhone 16 mold also show an iPhone 12-styled rear camera bump. With this leak, the possible rear design of the phone is becoming clearer and clearer. That is, the smartphone will likely have a pill-shaped raised surface on the back with two individual camera rings, just like the renders shared by leaker Majin Bu (@MajinBuOffical) and designer Jia (@upintheozone) earlier this month.
But you should note that the existence of case molds at this very early stage doesn’t necessarily mean that Apple has finalized the design for the iPhone 16. There’s still a lot of time for changes. Another thing to note is that protective case manufacturers often start initial case production based on leaks and rumors.
So, none of the leaked images may be an exact representation of what Apple has decided to do with the iPhone 16. The good part is that more information about the design will likely surface when the upcoming devices are near the Engineering Validation Testing phase.
