The love-it or hate-it iPhone notch’s number is up according to Ross Young, who has posted various interesting iPhone-related tidbits on Twitter recently. Unsurprisingly, many of these information morsels have pertained to the iPhone’s notch, which was last seen in all four models of 2021’s iPhone 13 range. While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are also rumored to be notched, it seems the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be notchless.
The Pro models of the 2022 series of iPhones will instead use a pill + hole design if recent leaks and rumors are accurate, freeing up some of the screen that would have previously been blocked by the notch. However, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max (no iPhone 14 Mini) will reportedly still be lumbered with the cumbersome black bar. An alleged leaked schematic has lent further weight to the belief that the iPhone 14 Pro phones will feature pill + hole cutouts.
But it seems by 2023, when the world has moved on to leaks concerning the Apple iPhone 15 series, that the notch will become a thing of the past – at least in terms of Apple’s flagship iPhone family. We have already touched upon a rumor that the iPhone 15 Pro models could actually come notch-free, but Young appears to be adamant that the pill + hole solution is also destined for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Max, too.
The dual hole punch design on the iPhone Pro models will be seen on all 4 models in 2023. Hopefully the holes will get smaller…
