Positive: Powerful hardware; high performance; backlit keys; nice display. Negative: Heavy and bulky.

Model: I always question the existence of 17.3 screen gaming laptops. My reason is the mobility. Well, of course when you need to carry a desktop, then you have to carry a monitor as well. This makes more sense for mobile desktop replacements, but you give up your option for upgrades, mostly for processor and GPU.
In our case, I have one of the newest Predator models. Equipped with i9 8950HK and 1070 8 GB GPU. Is the rest too important? Well, not much. 32 GB RAM, 4K screen, 512 GB PCIe SSD are just nice touches. Do you know why? Because Nvidia's Turing cards are on the horizon. Will you regret your decision when they arrive? Since you won't be able to change your GPU, in just a few months of time you will be missing out lots of opportunities.
It is not because the 1070 GPU is not good. But it is a questionable purchase since a new GPU is coming out, which is especially thought for 4K. In most of today's games the CPU is not the bottleneck, it is actually always the GPU. With the 1070 it is possible to get above 60 fps in 4K, but will it stay that way next year?
Okay, enough about GPUs. Overall, everything about this laptop is at top levels. Well, if there was at least a GTX 1080 GPU, it would have been better, but yeah, this is what we have.
You can play all the games in high/ultra resolution, maybe some demanding titles will have a hard time running in 4K, but the rest will be no problem.
Here comes the deal. This laptop, if it is okay to call this a laptop, is 4 kg. So it is not mobile. Since it is equipped with high-end components, I won't talk about battery life or anything similar. All things considered, I think you can play all games in high details for the next few years. But afterwards, it is a question. Since the Helios 500 doesn't have a Thunderbolt connection or Gen. 2 USB 3.1, external GPUs are out of question.
Overall, yeah it is a great gaming laptop. But is it future proof? That is a thing that you need to answer by yourself.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile: Pascal based high-end mobile graphics card based on a cut down GP104 (like the GTX 1080) and GDDR5 graphics memory. Successor to the GTX 980M with a 10 Watts higher TDP. Similar to the desktop GTX 1070 performance wise, but with more shaders and lower clock speeds.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

17.30":
This large display size is used for laptops which are mainly intended for an use on a desk.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.4 kg:
In former years, this weight was representative for laptops with a 14-16 inch display-diagonal. Nowadays, 17 inch laptops weigh less than that.
Acer: The company was founded under the name of Multitech in Taiwan in 1976 and renamed to Acer or Acer Group in 1987. There are dozens of Acer laptop reviews per month, the ratings are average (as of 2016). Gateway, which has an own laptop line-up, has also belonged to the Acer Group since 2007.
87.7%: This is a good rating above average. Nevertheless you should not forget, that 10-15% of all notebook-models get a better rating.
