Hands down, the Acer Aspire F 15 is one of the best value notebooks in the lower-end of the market we’ve reviewed so far. It has a lot to offer and just a little trade-offs along the way. It has a nice design – maybe it won’t be suitable for some but it offers a fairly good amount of color palettes to choose from – with great choice of materials, especially the interior, which features brushed aluminum finish. It is accompanied by one of the best in class keyboards and excellently performing big touchpad. Yes, it’s not one of the lightest or the slimmest notebooks on the market, but it’s a little sacrifice for a the decent hardware inside and the robust construction.

Inexpensive multimedia talent. In the Aspire F15, Acer combines a ULV processor with enough RAM and a dedicated GPU. These specifications appear good on paper and the price is significantly under 1000 Euros ($1104). We will reveal the weaknesses of the Acer Aspire F15 in our in-depth review.

Acer managed to cram a lot of value into the Aspire F15. For $599, you get mainstream Core i5 processing power, an attractive design and a sharp, though dull, display. The true star of the system, however, is the SSD that delivers stronger boot and file transfer times than you usually find in this price range.

Finally, we want to comment a bit on the screen. It’s definitely a huge step in the right direction compared to the previous generation because now the Aspire F 15 boasts a 100% sRGB coverage and decent overall properties for a TN panel. However, the relatively low-frequency PWM, which is present in all brightness levels, might be a deal-breaker for some. Luckily, our Health-Guard profile eliminates this issue.

Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420
As a multimedia targeted notebook, the Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 does try to aspire and inspire its consumers. What does make this notebook great as a middle ground and seems to hold it back? The competition is stiff in the multimedia notebook market, but usually competitors lose out in terms of price to performance. The Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 is powered by an Intel Core i7-7500U processor with 8 GB of RAM and two storage devices, a primary 256 GB SSD and a secondary 1 TB HDD. The Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 is also powered by Nvidia’s Geforce GTX940MX, which frankly is beginning to feel slightly dated with the release of Pascal based GPU’s, nonetheless it still does its job. Chassis and construction-wise, the Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 is generally made out of plastic, although it features some aluminium parts, which has its pros and cons, but mainly pros if you want to stay within budget. This is not to say that its brushed metal finish and plastic backing are bad. Overall chassis flex remains minimal unless users exert an unreasonable amount of force. In the IO department, the Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 is about average although not so it the layout department. The Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 has about two USB 3.0 type A ports, one of them slightly close to its HDMI port, which can be blocked by a large thumb drive, a USB type C port and a SD card reader. One thing to note here ist that the Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 features a DVD drive. However, its quite rare that anyone would use such in 2017. Surprisingly despite not being a business notebook the Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 actually includes a TPM 2.0 chip, which is sort of a bonus and your usual Kensington lock. As for input devices, the keyboard and touchpad are about noteworthy. The keyboard is a chiclet variant with backlight. In terms of key travel it is actually quite shallow although the stroke is clearly noticeable. Other than that the typing noise remains at a minimum. The touchpad is decently sized with its accentuated chrome frame. It is a clickpad with integrated buttons, which work quietly. In order to fit within the budget, Acer has decided to equip this notebook with a TN based FHD LCD panel, which isn’t necessarily bad although viewing angles and possibly brightness might suffer. Otherwise it remains usable. While the sRGB metric isn’t necessarily important in a multimedia notebook, it is actually very accurate scoring in at 100 percent. This shows that while it may not be an IPS panel at the very least it isn’t lacking in the color reproduction department. As this notebook is also equipped with a Geforce GTX 940MX it should be noted that games should run smoothly at medium to high settings depending on the game. The Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 is equipped with 2 stereo speakers. In terms of audio quality, they are about average with good mids and highs but little to no bass. As any notebooks suffering from average speakers, it is recommended to use headphones, should the user desire better audio quality. While this is neither strictly a gaming or business notebook, one should expect much from its internal battery. It was able to last 2 hours 32 minutes on full load and about 6 hours 26 minutes on Wi-Fi. This is about average for a notebook of this class, but otherwise falls in between gaming notebooks and business notebooks. For its asking price the Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-7420 can be an attractive proposition if users are concerned about budget but not wanting to sacrifice a lot for too little. While the laptop only comes with a TN based LCD it is still able to produce reasonable visuals at a fraction of the cost. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
