A fantastic all-round media centre with a stunning 18.4" screen and no real flaws. Some great widescreen laptops have come from Acer's Aspire range over the years, and the Aspire 8935G-744G50Bn continues this trend – providing an outstanding screen, great features and good all-round capabilities. We really like the Aspire 8935G. Offering one of the best screens we've seen to date and great usability, it's truly an excellent home media centre.

Acer's Aspire 8935G is the latest model from the company's multimedia range, offering a great mix of power and features at an impressive price. If you're on the lookout for a media centre laptop, then the Acer is well worth a shot. The screen matches the very best on the market, and the rest of the laptop also stands up well under scrutiny. With a powerful graphics card, decent quality, loads of features, it's a good all-rounder. Just don't plan on taking it on the daily commute.

90% Acer Aspire 8935G - All Buffed up

In all fairness, the Acer Aspire 8935G isn't really an update to the Aspire 8930G than say, a newer model. The 8935G improves on a lot of the design aspects found on the 8930G while maintaining much of the feel of the Aspire series. Acer has also used ideas from some of its newer designs like the Timeline series, e.g. the chiclet keyboard and successfully implanted it onto the 8935G. The keyboard feels just right on the notebook and brings to it a much needed elegance.

We were very impressed by the Acer Aspire 8935G-904G1TBwn. While it uses older components than other laptops, for most potential buyers there is still more than enough power on offer here for everyday use.

Acer: The company was founded under the name of Multitech in Taiwan in 1976 and renamed to Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors and televisions. Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell also belong to the Group and sell their own laptops.

While Acer still had the third largest global market share in the notebook segment in 2008, it ranked 6th in 2016 with a market share of 6% after they had continuously lost market shares.

There are dozens of Acer laptop reviews per month, the ratings are average (as of 2016). Gateway, which has an own laptop line-up, has also belonged to the Acer Group since 2007.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670: Higher clocked version of the Mobilty HD 4650. Supports the Avivo HD technology. The performance of the cards depends on the used type of memory (DDR2, DDR3, GDDR3 possible) and should lie somewhere between the desktop HD 4650 and 4670.

Intel Core 2 Quad: Mobile version of the desktop Quad Core processor. Due to low clock rates it is not recommended for most applications.

Slow clocked quad core CPU (4 cores) that suffers especially in many games from the low clock speed. Therefore, not suited for games and only for highly multi threaded applications.
