AMD confirms Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D price and release date

AMD has finally revealed key details about its high-end Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D Zen 5 desktop CPUs. At its CES 2025 presentation, AMD told us everything but their prices and release dates, and now, we have both. They will hit shelves on March 12 for the following prices.

• Ryzen 9 9950X3D: $699
• Ryzen 9 9900X3D: $599

That's about a $100 markup over the Ryzen 9 9950X and $120 over the Ryzen 9 9900X, which is fair, considering that you get nearly identical performance and extra 3D V-cache. But AMD's main problem will be keeping stocks up. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is still hard to find in many locations, and one can only hope AMD has enough Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D units lying around to satiate gamers who would want something to pair with their shiny new Radeon RX 9070 XT/RX 9070.

Because neither model comes with a 3D V-cache on both CCDs, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D should, on paper, have a lead over its Ryzen 9 counterparts like it did in the Ryzen 7000 era. Most of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D's performance gains will come from its faster Zen 5 cores and reverse CCD layout. That said, the latter, combined with a good draw in the silicon lottery, could allow overclockers to extract more performance out of their Zen 5 silicon. With Intel Arrow Lake light-years behind, both chips have the potential to reign as the best gaming CPUs of this generation, a crown AMD might not relinquish anytime soon.
