Soulbound was never meant to be a blockbuster. It’s the kind of game you stumble across on Steam late at night, try out with a friend on a whim, and may end up playing for hours longer than planned. Now it’s getting delisted.
Developer Schmoovin Studios announced the game will be pulled from the Steam store on June 30, 2025, as they shift focus to new projects. There's no online requirement or server shutdown to worry about - once you claim it, it's yours permanently. But if you miss that window, it’s gone.
The core loop is simple and surprisingly chaotic. One player is a ninja running through procedurally generated platformer stages. The other is a ghost who can jump into enemies to mess up the ninja’s run. Kill the ninja, and you swap roles. It’s fast, unpredictable, and kind of hilarious when it gets going. Especially if you're yelling at your friend mid-possession.
No online multiplayer, no complicated setups - just plug in a controller, grab a second player, and you're good to go. It was made by students, and yeah, it shows in places. But what’s there feels honest. A bit janky, a bit rough around the edges, but fun in a way big-budget games rarely are anymore. The game has a small install size (under 1.2GB) and very low hardware requirements, even running on Intel HD 4000.
One review sums SoulBound up perfectly (and hilariously): "This game makes me forget how much I hate Stuart Little." Check the game out here, and take a look at the game trailer below:
