The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s is a portable workstation notebook that weighs less than 1.5 kg and packs a powerful Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U CPU, 64 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, and a stunning 2.8K OLED display. The laptop is currently enjoying a mouth-watering 55% discount on the list price, making the machine worth a serious consideration.

The latest entries to the ThinkPad P series of workstation laptops were announced in July of this year and were available to buy a month later. The 14-inch ThinkPad P14s Gen 4 was also part of the trio that Lenovo updated with the latest Ryzen 7040U processors, new displays, and faster RAM.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s with a Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U CPU, 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory running at 6400 MHz, 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage, and a 14-inch 2.8K OLED panel can now be had for only US$1,129 at Lenovo’s store. Per the company, the discounted price is US$1,380, or an enormous 55% lower than the US$2,509 list rate.

To get the discounted price, you need to apply the coupon code WSDEAL13 at checkout. The coupon code takes a combined US$1,380 off the list price.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 4 is meant to be a lighter and easier-to-carry alternative to the more powerful ThinkPad P16v for folks who don’t need a dedicated GPU. As such the ThinkPad P14s only features a Radeon 780M iGPU while packing a moderately sized 52.5 Wh battery. The result is a workstation notebook that only weighs 3 lbs (1.36 kg) and measures 317.7 x 226.9 x 17.9 mm.

The ThinkPad P14s Gen 4 has plenty of horsepower for CPU-intensive tasks as the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U features 8 Zen 4 cores, 12 threads, and a boost clock of 5.1 GHz. Combined with the RDNA 3-based Radeon 780M iGPU that proved to be 15% faster than the Radeon 680M in the 3DMark Time Spy Graphics benchmark in our testing, the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 4 is powerful enough for professionals who don’t need a dGPU.

Lastly, the ThinkPad P14s’ 2.8K OLED panel appears to be the same excellent screen that we saw on the ThinkPad X1 Carbon G10. We found the panel to cover 100% of the DCI-P3, 100% of the sRGB, and 97% of the AdobeRGB color space.

All in all, the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 4 is a lightweight workstation laptop that, for US$1,129, presents quite a compelling value proposition.
