(April 16, 2020 update: We previously stated that the battery will be 65 Wh, but it will be 51 Wh instead. The AC adapter will be 65 Wh. The original article has been amended.)
HP will be refreshing both its 13.3-inch Envy 13 clamshell and Envy x360 13 convertible models with new designs and CPUs this summer. The news follows on the footsteps of the recently announced 15.6-inch 2020 Envy 15 and 17.3-inch 2020 Envy 17.
First, let's start with the Envy 13 clamshell. The redesign trims off the thick "chin" bezel of last year's model for a higher screen-to-body ratio and a smaller footprint. The newer model measures just 194.6 mm in length compared to 211.5 mm on the 2019 model. Z height, however, is actually thicker on the latest model at 17 mm whereas the 2019 model was just 14.7 mm.
Next up is the Envy x360 13 convertible. Much like the above clamshell, the new convertible design drops the upward-firing speakers and trims the "chin" bezel for a more portable form factor. Ports have also been rearranged, but thankfully nothing has been excluded from the 2019 version. Internally, the Zen+ Ryzen 7 3700U gets an upgrade to the Renoir Ryzen 7 4700U which should offer much faster CPU and GPU performance than the Intel Ice Lake part without necessarily drawing more power. We'll have to wait and see if the 120 Hz display option of the 2019 model will be returning to the 2020 model.
The 2020 Envy 13 and Envy x360 13 will be launching this May for a starting price of $1000 and $700 USD, respectively, followed by the 2020 Envy 15 a month later.
