The brand-new Astell & Kern Luna are being marketed as "groundbreaking" earbuds. This claim is mostly justified by the unipolar planar 13mm drivers, which have been specially developed for the Luna and are housed in a robust aluminum frame.
This driver aims to offer exceptionally fast response times, natural resonance characteristics and first-class resolution in order to accurately reproduce even the tiniest acoustic details. Astell & Kern’s official spec sheet specifies a frequency range of 20Hz to 30kHz, an impedance of 5 ohms and a sensitivity of 105 dB/mW.
The included cable has a 4.4mm connector and combines oxygen-free copper with a silver coating to deliver the best possible sound. If damaged, the cable can be replaced, and the earbuds are also compatible with third-party cables that have a 2-pin connector. These headphones are made in Japan, their titanium housing is supposedly even handcrafted. The shape of the housing was inspired by the “gentle shape of the moon”, which also explains the product name of these IEMs.
