To justify the Kronos’ nearly $5,000 price tag, Noble Audio opted for CNC-machined titanium shells made in the USA. Adorning the back are two titanium Damascus faceplates that reveal the Noble Audio logo only when light hits them at a certain angle. The company promises that these in-ear monitors (IEMs) deliver “flagship sound”, powered by nine drivers and a six-way crossover in each earpiece.
Each earphone features a 10 mm and a 7 mm dynamic driver for bass, a bone conductor driver, four Knowles balanced armature drivers for mids and highs, and two Sonion electrostatic drivers tuned especially for high frequencies. Despite the unconventional driver configuration, the IEMs shouldn’t be too picky about their source, thanks to an impedance of less than 35 ohms. An early review by Bloom Audio confirms that the Kronos offers a balanced sound suitable for any genre.
The supplied cable is made of palladium-plated silver and comes exclusively with a 4.4 mm balanced plug. However, it can be easily swapped out because the Kronos is compatible with conventional 0.78 mm 2-pin cables. Noble Audio emphasises that each pair is crafted by hand, with components individually matched to ensure the highest level of performance.
