Introduced in 2022, the 1 TB Samsung T7 Shield portable SSD (model numbers MU-PE1T0S/AM, MU-PE1T0K/AM, and MU-PE1T0R/AM, each corresponding to a color choice) is listed on Amazon with a US$159.99 price tag. However, the ongoing 50% discount takes it all the way down to a tempting US$79.99.
The three color choices mentioned above are black, beige, and blue. This portable SSD features 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity and is rated IP65 for protection from dust and water. Obviously, the level of performance achieved depends on the system it is connected to. The T7 Shield can hit sequential write/read speeds of 1,050 MB/s and 1,000 MB/s. 256-bit AES hardware encryption is supported and the drive can easily survive drops on concrete from up to 3 meters (9.8 feet).
