iReader has announced a new E Ink e-reader in China called the iReader Neo 3 Pro. It follows the iReader Neo 3, announced a few months ago. It shares most of its specs with the standard model, but with a few differences.
The iReader Neo 3 Pro has a 6-inch Carta 1300 black and white E Ink display with a 1072 × 1448 resolution (300 ppi). However, unlike the Neo 3, which has a recessed display, the entire front of the Neo 3 Pro is covered with a sheet of glass. iReader says the glass is nano-etched, which reduces glare. The Neo 3 Pro also has a smaller chin compared to the Neo 2 Pro.
The Neo 3 Pro has iReader's i-Clean 2.0 technology, which helps reduce ghosting. It also has ComfortLight Pro+ backlight, which provides 30 levels of brightness and color temperature control.
There's a quad-core processor under the hood, along with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of non-expandable storage. Like the standard iReader Neo 3, it has a 1,800mAh battery capacity that provides up to 50 hours of reading time. It will also last three weeks in standby mode.
For connectivity, the iReader Neo 3 Pro has Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, and a USB-C port. There's a single speaker and microphone, and a set of pogo pins at the back, which connect to a case that adds physical page turn buttons. The e-reader weighs 144 grams and measures 148.8 × 109.2 × 6.4mm. iReader ships it with SmartOS, which is based on Android.
The iReader Neo 3 Pro is only available in black, unlike the Neo 3, which comes in three colors. Nevertheless, it has an orange power button like the brand's other e-readers. The iReader Neo 3 Pro is available only in China for now and is priced at CNY 1099 (~$155/€131). At that price, it is just slightly cheaper than the Bigme B6, which has a color E Ink display (available on Amazon for $169).
