In February, Xiaomi stated that the Redmi Note 9 Pro would receive MIUI 12.5 in late Q2 2021, a period that we are now in. However, the device has just received a new upgrade, and it only contains Android 11. For some reason, Xiaomi has decided against bringing MIUI 12.5 to the Redmi Note 9 Pro yet, for some reason.

Xiaomi has started issuing a new update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro in Europe. For clarity, we mean 'joyeuse', not 'curtana' or 'gauguin'. While Xiaomi sells these pair as the Redmi Note 9 Pro in some regions, it does not in Europe. Instead, the company markets 'curtana' and 'gauguin' in Europe as the Redmi Note 9S and Mi 10T Lite, respectively.

Currently, Xiaomi is distributing V12.0.1.0.RJZEUXM to devices enrolled on its Mi Pilot program. As we covered a few months ago, Xiaomi opened the Mi Pilot program for MIUI 12 so that people could test stable builds before they reached a wider audience.

Unfortunately, V12.0.1.0.RJZEUXM does not contain MIUI 12.5. On the contrary, the latest update keeps the Redmi Note 9 Pro on MIUI 12, so you may not necessarily notice many differences between V12.0.4.0.QJZEUXM and V12.0.1.0.RJZEUXM.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro has already received Android 11 on MIUI's global channel too. Xiaomi states that the Redmi Note 9 Pro should see MIUI 12.5 starting from late Q2 2021, which should be this month.
