The Mi Mix Fold is big in every sense of the word. Not only does it have an 8.01-inch display when unfolded, but it also weighs between 317 g and 332 g, depending on which configuration you choose. Additionally, the Mi Mix Fold has a 108 MP camera, a liquid-lens telephoto camera, a new Surge C1 ISP and a 5,020 mAh battery capacity. The Mi Mix Fold costs between CNY 9,999 (~US$1,521) and CNY 12,999 (~US$1,977), too.

Xiaomi has unveiled its first foldable smartphone, following in the footsteps of Huawei, Motorola and Samsung. The Mi Mix Fold is also the first Mi Mix smartphone since the Mi Mix Alpha, which Xiaomi announced in 2019. Contrary to previous rumours, Xiaomi's first foldable smartphone has an inwardly folding display, which expands to 8.01-inches when opened. There is a 6.52-inch display on the Mi Mix Fold's outside, though.

It is worth noting that while the inner display runs at 60 Hz, the outer display peaks at 90 Hz. Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi has equipped the Mi Mix Fold with a Snapdragon 888 SoC, along with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage in the case of the Ceramic Special Edition. All these components will be powered by two batteries totalling 5,020 mAh that can be recharged at up to 67 W, matching the Mi 11 Ultra.

The Mi Mix Fold is not all about its displays, either. Xiaomi has equipped the device with a Samsung HMX 108 MP primary camera, a 13 MP ultra-wide camera and a new liquid-lens telephoto camera that can shoot from 3 cm macro up to 30x hybrid zoom. Xiaomi is yet to confirm if the camera's optical zoom capabilities, though. There is a 20 MP front-facing camera, too. Additionally, the Mi Mix Fold is the only smartphone in Xiaomi's portfolio with its new Surge C1 image signal processor (ISP).

The Mi Mix Fold is one large smartphone, too. According to the device's official specification sheet, the device is 173.27 mm tall and is 17.2 mm thick when folded. The Mi Mix Fold is only 69.8 mm wide when folded, at least. Additionally, the standard model weighs 317 g, while the Ceramic Special Edition tips the scales at 332 g. By contrast, the Mate X2 and Z Fold2 weigh 295 g and 282 g, respectively. Similarly, the Mi Mix Fold towers over these pair and is even taller than the S21 UltraXperia 1 II or the V60 ThinQ.

The Mi Mix Fold will be available to purchase in China from CNY 9,999 (~US$1,521), but the Ceramic Special Edition costs CNY 12,999 (~US$1,977). It is unclear if Xiaomi will release the Mi Mix Fold outside of China. Certification submissions that the Mi Mix Fold will only be purchasable in Xiaomi's home market, but we doubt that it will be long before the company releases a foldable smartphone globally.
