After beginning the Android 11 rollout for the European model of the Redmi Note 8 a few weeks ago, Xiaomi is now expanding its reach. Starting today, the Android 11 alongside the July security patch will reach the first batch of global Redmi Note 8 owners.

A few weeks ago, Xiaomi began sending out the Android 11 to the Redmi Note 8 in Europe, bringing it on par with newer Redmi devices like the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 10. The company isn't planning on stopping there, either, and is now expanding the Android 11 rollout for the Redmi Note 8.

While the first update was for the European model of the device, this update is for the global model. The OTA arrives with the build designation "MIUI 12.0.1.0 RCOMIXM". That denotes the usual, that it's a very early build, and that it brings Android 11 to the global model of the phone. The OTA weighs in at 2.3 GB, as it's a full OS upgrade. The update also delivers the July security patch.

It's important to note that this build isn't public yet. It appears to be exclusive to pilot testers at the moment, but will eventually make its way to the public—perhaps in a few weeks.
