Xiaomi has presented the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, the first smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 chipset. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo also comes with a 120 Hz AMOLED display, up to 16 GB RAM and an optional Harry Potter special edition, among other features.

Xiaomi has released the Redmi Note 12 Turbo in China, which is expected to launch later this year in other countries as the POCO F5. While the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is another member of the burgeoning Redmi Note 12 series, it is the world's first smartphone with the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2. For reference, Qualcomm announced the new chipset earlier this month. Also headed to the Realme GT Neo5 SE, early Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 benchmarks show a marked improvement from previous Snapdragon 7 series chipsets.

According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo measures 161.11 x 74.95 x 7.9 mm, weighs 181 g and has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 67 W fast charging. The handset lacks any form of wireless charging integration though like the rest of the Redmi Note 12 series. Additionally, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that operates at 1080p, 120 Hz and up to 1,000 nits. Xiaomi adds that the display can vary its refresh rate between 30 Hz, 60 Hz, 90 Hz and 120 Hz.

Moreover, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, as well as 64 MP primary, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle, 2 MP macro and 16 MP front-facing cameras. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo has a 3.5 mm jack and is available in a special Harry Potter edition. As the images below show, the Harry Potter edition comes with themed accessories, a custom back panel and a different boot animation. Xiaomi adds that the Harry Potter edition also ships with special background images and sound effects.

By default, Xiaomi sells the Redmi Note 12 Turbo in Carbon Black, Ice Feather White and Xinghai Blue colourways. At launch, Xiaomi offers the Redmi Note 12 Turbo with four memory options, although the Harry Potter edition is only available with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Redmi Note 12 Turbo pricing is as follows, although Xiaomi is offering CNY 100 (~US$15) to CNY 200 (~US$29) discounts for early bird orders:

  • 8 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 1,999 (~US$290)
  • 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 2,199 (~US$319)
  • 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage - CNY 2,399 (~US$348)
  • 16 GB RAM/1 TB storage - CNY 2,799 (~US$407)
