Xiaomi Redmi Note 12: Leak reveals early details as well as a potential MediaTek Dimensity 8100 model

Last week, word surfaced offering insight into Xiaomi's supposed plans for the Redmi Note 12 series. As a follow-up, a new leak has now provided an early look at what kind of hardware to expect from the Redmi Note 12 series.

As revealed by leaker It's Fat, the Redmi Note 12 series looks set to continue with an LCD panel. While the Redmi Note 11 phones all launched with AMOLEDs globally, back in China, the phones have 120 Hz LCD screens. The Redmi Note 12 series is tipped to offer similar display configurations. 

In addition, the phones are tipped to sport X-axis linear motors for improved haptics. That's not new, though, as the Redmi Note 11 Pro already launched with such hardware. The leaker touts a Snapdragon 700-series chipset, too, as well as a price tag below CNY 2,000 (US$315). 67 W charging is also expected to make an appearance.

Rather interestingly, the source also claims that the new MediaTek Dimensity 8100 could make an appearance in the Redmi Note 12 series. That would be impressive but not all that groundbreaking as the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G already featured the Dimensity 1100 last year. It's pertinent to point out that the Redmi Note 12 devices referred to here are for the Chinese market, and there's a significant chance that the global models sport different hardware when they land towards the end of the year.
