According to a new leak, Xiaomi is currently working on its next-gen mainstream tablets. These devices, expected to be the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Xiaomi 6 Pro, are tipped to debut with Snapdragon 800-series SoCs and could launch in Q2 alongside the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

Word of Xiaomi's next-gen mainstream tablets, the Xiaomi Pad 6 series, surfaced as far back as May last year. While rumors at the time indicated the tablets weren't far from release, Xiaomi never got around to debuting the Pad 6 series last year, instead choosing to launch the Redmi Pad and two models of the Pad 5 Pro 12.4. It appears, however, that the Xiaomi Pad 6 may finally be close to launch.

As revealed by leaker Mukul Sharma, the Xiaomi Pad 6 looks to be on the way. Supposedly, the company has now begun internal testing of two new high-end tablets—presumably the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro—for European and Asian markets. The leaker claims both tablets will debut with Snapdragon 800-series SoCs.

It's unspecified but, going by previous rumors, the chipset expected to power the new tablets could be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Prior reports claimed the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, in particular, would see more use outside the flagship smartphone segment, and the Xiaomi Pad 6 series fits right into that.

The source claims the Xiaomi Pad 6 series could be geared to debut in Q2. Coincidentally, word on the grapevine in China indicates the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra could make its launch in April or thereabouts as well. In that case, it wouldn't be surprising to see both the Pad 6 series and 13 Ultra debut at the same event.
