Xiaomi HyperOS gets a new “Beta” version, recruitments starts in Q4 2024

The development strategy of Xiaomi HyperOS is seeing a change. Currently, the company offers "Development" versions of its Android skin to compatible devices that have yet to receive stable releases. These versions give the early adopters a glimpse of all the new features and changes, but as they aren't stable, there tend to be glitches and bugs.

This testing phase of new HyperOS versions lets Xiaomi get feedback on the issues that are generally fixed in the stable release. However, as the company notes, the transition from the "Development" version to the stable version wasn't as smooth as it should've been.

So, Xiaomi has now introduced the "Beta" version of its new Android skin. While it will also let the early adopters test out the new features and changes, it promises a seamless transition when there's a stable HyperOS version release. The testers can install the "Official" release without needing to wipe their smartphones.

Moreover, beta testers can get into the "Beta" version directly from stable firmware. There will be no need to manually install it, as the beta versions will be accessible from the HyperOS's software update tool.

Besides these, Xiaomi has also introduced new release cycles for the "Beta" version of Xiaomi HyperOS. There will be a flexible model, which will have a fixed schedule for the feature rollouts. Instead, the company will be rolling them out as required. This aims to allow a more targeted testing of the features.

As per the new announcement, Xiaomi will be discontinuing the "Development" version rollout by August 2024. The recruitment for the new "Beta" HyperOS program is set to start in Q4 2024. Xiaomi will share details about the application process and the compatible phones in the official community forum.
