The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is finally here after its Chinese launch. It is currently the best Xiaomi phone you can buy if you're not in the market for foldables. As expected, its spec sheet is packed to the brim with cutting-edge hardware and, unsurprisingly, it comes with an exorbitant price tag.
Xiaomi uses a 6.73-inch WQHD+ (3,200 vertical pixels) AMOLED panel on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It refreshes at 120 Hz, and can go as low as 1 Hz if the situation demands it. Xiaomi claims its brightness can go as high as 3,200 nits under sunlight. A layer of Xiaomi Shield Glass 2.0, while a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7 protects the camera housing.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, paired with up to 1 TB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It draws power from a 6,000 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery that supports 90 Watt wired charging, 80 Watts wireless charging and 10 Watts reverse wireless charging. For connectivity, there's Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, the first commercial smartphone to support the standard.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra has been heavily advertised as a camera powerhouse, and on that front, it does not disappoint. It comes with a 50 MP 1-inch Sony LYT 900 wide-angle lens. It is paired with a Leica Summilux lens which offers a large f/1.63 aperture, variable focal lengths of 23 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm.
Then there's a 50 MP Leica 70mm telephoto camera that is equipped with floating elements at an ideal focal length. Xiaomi claims it excels in portrait and street photography, and even macro photography. It is joined by a 200 MP Leica periscope telephoto lens that captures distant subjects at a 100 mm focal length, extendable to 200 mm via in-sensor zoom technology. Its f/2.6 aperture and 1/1.4-inch sensor allows it to capture 136% more light than the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
The setup is rounded off by a 50 MP Leica 14mm ultra-wide-angle camera. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra can record 4K video at 12 FPS using the main and telephoto lenses. It also supports Ultra Dolby Vision video recording in 4K at 60 FPS and 10-bit Log video recording across all focal lengths. The camera layout is supplemented with a four-microphone array.
Xiaomi has also launched the Xiaomi 15 Ultra Photography Kit Legend Edition to supplement the smartphone. It features a red decorative ring, a specially designed Fast Shot mode camera interface, detachable thumb grips and shutter buttons, a multifunctional 67 mm filter adapter ring, and an integrated 2000mAh battery.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is available immediately in the colours Black, White, and Silver Chrome. Prices start at EUR 1,500 for the base variant with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. Its accompanying photography kit costs EUR 200.
