Initially featuring only 15-inch models, the Fusion lineup of gaming laptops from XMG is now expanded with a 16-inch variant that represents the Intel-powered counterpart of the recently launched Core 16 models with AMD Ryzen AI processors. XMG states that the Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU powering the Fusion 16 delivers higher multicore performance compared to the 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, thanks to the 16 efficiency cores coupled with 8 performance cores. Users can choose between the RTX 5060 and the RTX 5070 for the dGPU solution.
Detailed specs
Unlike the Core 16 laptops, the Fusion 16 is slightly lighter, weighing 2.1 to 2.2 kg, but the chassis is essentially the same size measuring 357 x 254 x 23 mm. The Fusion 16 laptops also retain the generous 99.8 Wh batteries and also come together with a 240-watt power supply. The cooling system features slightly larger fans over the Core 16 version, allowing for 150 W peak and 140 W sustained TDPs for the CPU, 115 W sustained for the GPU and 170 W sustained for CPU+GPU.
Another major difference over the Core 16 models is the inclusion of an OLED display option with 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 400 nits max brightness, and 100% coverage of both DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spaces. There is also an IPS display option with 2560 x 1,600 resolution, 300 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits max brightness, and full coverage of both the DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spaces. Both options include a 60 Hz mode for energy saving, and the IPS works at 240 Hz, as well.
Maximum RAM capacity is 128 GB DDR5-6400 through two slots that are compatible with the new CSO-DIMM standard. On the storage side, we find a PCie 5.0 X4 slot and a PCie 4.0 X4 slot that can support up to 16 TB combined NVMe SSD capacity.
Port selection is a bit more robust compared to the Core 16 models. As such, the rear side of the Fusion 16 hosts a Thunderbolt 4 port with DP80-compatible DisplayPort 2.1 and 140 watts of Power Delivery (20 V, 7 A), a DP40-compatible Mini DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1 with 48 Gbps bandwidth, and the power supply connector. Side ports include a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with DisplayPort 1.4a and 100-watt Power Delivery, three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, a 2.5 GbE port, a 2-in-1 audio jack, and a full-size SD Express-compatible card reader. Wireless connectivity is provided through a Wi-Fi 6E card by default, which can be upgraded to a Wi-Fi 7 model.
There is also an RGB full-size keyboard and arrow keys plus an HD webcam with Windows Hello support and physical shutter.
