Honor has unveiled its latest AiMAGE in-house tuning as its answer to fancy collaborations with well-known camera brands such Leica or Zeiss in the Magic V5. Now, the logo is backed to truly come into its own in the "Magic8 Ultra", a new kind of Android flagship with the alleged unique selling point of debuting with dual 200MP cameras.
Their actual functions remains unknown at the time of writing, although they could work in conjunction with the LOFIC technology reportedly sourced from Omnivision.
Honor is now slated to pit these dual shooters against other potentially class-leading next-gen hardware such as the updated 1-inch sensor of the "Xiaomi 16 Ultra" or the continuous zoom technology of the "Vivo X300 Ultra".
The new Magic8-series flagship might also challenge its putative fellow Ultras with an exceptionally large display, powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC and kept on with a battery enlarged to 7,000mAh in capacity (if not more).
It will be interesting to see if sacrificing the Porsche Design-inspired styling of the Magic7 RSR for all that rumored power will pay off for its successors later in 2025.
