Upgraded Xiaomi Smart Camera 4 launches as new affordable security camera with dual sensors

The Xiaomi Smart Camera 4 Dual Camera Edition has been launched in China as an upgrade model over the regular version of the security camera. As the name suggests, it comes with dual sensors, and these two 5 MP cameras can capture at a resolution of 2960 x 1666 pixels.

Xiaomi highlights that the new pan-tilt security camera offers a higher level of flexibility when it comes to viewing angles and reduces blind spots that are generally associated with smart cameras with a single sensor. More specifically, the PTZ camera is said to offer a 360° horizontal and 152° vertical coverage.

Another highlight of the Smart Camera 4 Dual Camera Edition is the built-in 940 mm infrared fill light. This, paired with multiple imaging algorithms, is said to allow the security camera to offer a 10-meter night vision range. Xiaomi also claims that the sensors can capture bright and detailed images in challenging lighting conditions.

Besides that, the new affordable security camera has an AI-powered detection feature, allowing it to identify pets and humans. It can send a push notification when an anomaly is detected, and thanks to the 1 TOPS chip inside, all the AI processing happens locally.

Other highlights include dual-band WiFi 6, two-way voice call, support for up to a 256 GB SD card (SanDisk 256 GB Ultra microSDXC curr. $19.99 on Amazon), and multiple privacy features. The Xiaomi Smart Camera 4 Dual Camera Edition costs CNY 299 in China, around $42, and the company has yet to share when it will be available in the global market.
