When it comes to big third-party titles, the Nintendo Switch has often fallen behind. But according to two Nintendo insiders, that could change with the next generation of the console.

Nintendo is set to hit a major milestone today with the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct, kicking off at 9 a.m. ET. As fans wait for details on pricing, release date and launch titles, a new video from YouTube duo Kit & Krysta is stirring up both speculation and hope. In their episode on March 29, 2025, former Nintendo of America PR leads Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang offer a confident outlook on the next-gen console. Their take: the Switch 2 will attract far more third-party support than previous models, potentially putting long-standing criticisms to rest.

Arguments for a new era of third-party games on Switch

The original Switch was a major success, helping Nintendo win back the trust of many studios that had drifted away during the Wii U era. At the same time, the gaming landscape has evolved. Devices like the Steam Deck (available on Amazon for $570) have shown that even large-scale games can run well on compact hardware, sending a strong message to developers. Titles like Monster Hunter Rise, Hogwarts Legacy and various indie hits have further proven that third-party games aren’t just feasible on the Switch, they can also be commercially successful.

According to Kit & Krysta, developers already have access to Switch 2 dev kits. Rumors suggest that Nintendo is planning a three-phase launch strategy, beginning with its own titles, followed shortly by third-party releases. The emphasis on creating better development conditions for external studios is clear and marks a shift toward stronger third-party support.

Rumors are swirling: Is Elden Ring on the way?

Fans have high hopes for the Switch 2 and early leaks are already sparking excitement. One of the hottest topics is a possible Elden Ring port, which insiders say could be realistic – especially with the expected performance boost of the new console. In the comments under Kit & Krysta’s YouTube video, titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Persona 3 Reload, Cyberpunk 2077 and the Kingdom Hearts series are also frequently mentioned, showing just how ambitious the community’s wish list is.
