Veteran leaker @kopite7kimi has shared information about Nvidia's upcoming graphics cards, including the GeForce RTX 3090 Super, RTX 3080 Super, RTX 3070 Super and RTX 3060 Super. The SKUs are slated to offer incremental upgrades over their base variants, such as faster VRAM and more CUDA cores.

Now that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti are done and dusted, rumours about Nvidia's upcoming line of graphics cards are beginning to pop up. Nvidia veteran @kopite7kimi has spilt the beans about the entire RTX 3000 Super lineup. Starting with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Super, we get 10,752 CUDA cores with 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM. The information reaffirms a leak from earlier, which also stated that the graphics card would be rated at 400W. Rumour has it that GeForce RTX 3090 Super could use a full-fat GA102 GPU, but that seems unlikely. Nvidia will probably want to reserve those for the RTX A6000 and other workstation-grade offerings that use the same silicon.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Super gives us 8,960 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM. It sits smack in the middle of the GeForce RTX 3080 (8,704 CUDA cores, 10GB GDDR6X VRAM) and the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (10,240 CUDA cores, 12GB GDDR6X VRAM). Rumour has it that the GeForce RTX 3080 Super will use an entirely new GA103 GPU, but there is also a chance that it could reuse the cut-down GA102 found on its siblings.

That leaves us with the GeForce RTX 3070 Super and the RTX 3060 Super. The former will allegedly pack 5,888 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6X RAM, making it little more than a GDDR6X refresh of the RTX 3070. Lastly, the GeForce RTX 3060 Super is rumoured to pack 5,632 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM. It is the only SKU of the lot that is better-specced than its Ti variant (RTX 3060 Ti) and has the potential to trade blows with the GeForce RTX 3070.

While @kopite7kimi has had a stellar track record of predicting future Nvidia SKUs, we have to remember that these configurations are very likely tentative. Nvidia will almost certainly make a few changes here and there as their tentative 2022 release date draws closer. Some of the SKUs could never see the light of day if they run the risk of cannibalizing existing Ampere cards.

That does, however, leave us with a few questions. For starters, just who are these graphics cards for? Even though it's been nearly a year since the RTX 3000 series graphics cards have been out and about, supply continues to remain a problem. Furthermore, there is no sign of entry-level desktop-grade cards such as the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050. Many gamers would stand to benefit from those, as not everyone can fork out ~US$500 for a graphics card, especially in third-world countries.
