Last week, Sony began rolling out the Android 15 update to its last-gen flagship model, the Xperia 1 V. Users of the Xperia 1 V's stablemate, the Xperia 5 V, have had to wait a while longer, but are now receiving the Android 15 update as well.
Like the update for the Xperia 1 V, the Xperia 5 V's OTA arrives as a slim 1052.4 MB package, with the model number "Version 67.2.A.2.41". Sony's help guide for the Xperia 5 V also iterates the changes the Android 15 update will introduce for the flagship, namely:
- New Wallpaper and Style settings changes
- Private Space
- Screenshot from Quick Settings
- Dashboard (Side Sense)
- New Quick Settings and Notifications panels
- Broadcasting (Audio sharing)
The Android 15 update for the Xperia 1 V brought a new setting to set the phone's display at its native 4K resolution. That feature is, of course, absent from the Xperia 5 V's Android 15 build, seeing as it only features a FHD+ panel.

I like tech, simple as. Half the time, you can catch me writing snarky sales copy. The rest of the time, I'm either keeping readers abreast with the latest happenings in the mobile tech world or watching football. I worked as both a journo and freelance content writer for a couple of years before joining the Notebookcheck team in 2017.
