Sony WH-CH720N: Upcoming mid-range over-ear headphones to launch with lighter and more comfortable design than predecessor
More details about the WH-CH720N have surfaced online, only a few days after official renders leaked. Now confirmed to be the WH-CH720N and not a WH-XB910N successor, the headphones appear set to launch alongside the WH-CH520. As their names suggest, the WH-CH720N will be the more expensive of the two. Based on MediaMarkt's listings, there will be an €89 gap between the WH-CH520 and the WH-CH720N, with the latter priced at €149.
Like the WH-CH520, the WH-CH720N should be more comfortable to wear than its predecessor with greater padding around its earcups and underneath its headband. The WH-CH720N is also lighter than the WH-CH710N, which weighs 223 g. According to MediaMarkt, the WH-CH720N will tip the scales at 192 g, roughly a 16% weight reduction. Battery life remains 35 hours with noise cancelling on, though.
Furthermore, Sony has upgraded the headphones from Bluetooth 5.0 to Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, which works in tandem with DSEE upscaling and Bluetooth Multipoint. For reference, the latter allows you to connect the WH-CH720N to two devices simultaneously. MediaMarkt did not reveal a release date, but we imagine Sony is close to announcing the headphones, given its appearance on a retailer's website with official images and specifications.
