Xiaomi is about to launch the first phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and right after the Xiaomi 17 series, a range of flagship phones powered by this next-gen Qualcomm SoC will be launched. The Honor Magic 8 is one of them, and while the company hasn't revealed the exact launch date yet, it has showcased the design of the phone.
As revealed by Li Kun, Honor's Product Manager, the Magic 8 won't see a significant design change over the predecessor. To be precise, per the shared photo, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship will stick with the same round camera island on the rear found on its predecessor.
However, as the other photos shared by the company reveal, the Magic 8 is getting a new physical button. While it looks like a camera control, Honor told The Verge that it's a dedicated button for AI features. The company also notes that the upcoming lineup will come with a new feature called Magic Color, which will let users edit the color palette of videos and images by using a reference image.
Previously, Guo Rui, Honor's CMO, shared a sample image captured by the Honor Magic 8 Pro. In that specific post, the Honor official shared that it's a capture from a 200 MP sensor of the phone, and the picture shows how well the device handles low-light photography.
This sample capture from Honor Magic 8 Pro suggests that the 200 MP sensor will sport an 85 mm equivalent focal length and a f/2.6 aperture, making it an upgrade over the 72 mm periscope found on the Magic 7 Pro. More official details about Honor's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones should emerge soon.
