Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event has leaked, with yet more details revealed about the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8 Plus and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The trio will arrive on February 9 alongside the Galaxy S22 series, consisting of three devices. Only the Galaxy Tab S8+ and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will receive S Pen latency improvements, though.

Dohyun Kim has shared numerous details about the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 series; all cribbed from Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked Preview event. Supposedly, the company presented the event to employees, to which Kim somehow gained access. According to Kim, all the screenshots embedded below come directly from Samsung.

It is worth noting that Kim has included their watermark and various obfuscations to protect their sources. On the one hand, the images confirm numerous leaks that emerged in the last few weeks, including several Amazon listings. Accordingly, the Galaxy Tab S8 series will arrive as three tablets, the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+ and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. All models will arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 too, not Samsung’s new Exynos 2200.

However, the images also reveal several unknown features about the Galaxy Tab S8 series, including a 2.8 ms reduction in S Pen latency for the Galaxy Tab S8+ and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. By contrast, S Pen latency remains at 6.2 ms for the Galaxy Tab S8. Additionally, the presentation clarifies that the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has two front-facing cameras for better video conferencing capabilities. Seemingly, Samsung has aped Apple’s Center Stage functionality but with two camera sensors, rather than a single ultra-wide-angle camera that Apple uses.

Moreover, Samsung will introduce software innovations to take advantage of the Galaxy Tab S8 series’ improved cameras, such as ‘Screen & Face Dual-Recording’. Theoretically, this could make the Galaxy Tab S8 series more versatile than competing Android tablets, although it remains to be seen what applications take advantage of this feature. Also, Samsung focuses on Galaxy Tab S8 series accessories, like its Book Cover Keyboard and DeX software. Allegedly, the pair will bring the Galaxy Tab S8 series even closer to laptop replacements when they arrive on February 9.
